    Blanket stitch on 1008?

I have a 750qe but need to get a machine as a back up. I don't want to put a lot of money into it since it's just a back up machine. I was thinking about a 1008 manual machine since I'm not afraid of tension etc. However, does that machine have a blanket stitch? I do like to "bounce" between standard stitching and applique so would not want to give up that particular stitch.

I am interested in this machine too because my trusty old Bernina 900 has died. I have search through Bernina's site in their list of manuals for download but this particular machine is missing from that list. The .pdf brochure doesn't show the stitches. The dealer I visited did not have it in stock so couldn't give me the information. I would love to know which stitches are included.
    TIA

      Hello,
The Bernina 1008 doesn't have the applique blanket stitch you require.
The first Bernina machine in the collection to have this stitch is the Bernina 350PE (that is patchwork edition).
This is a beautiful standard sized machine that is computerized. It is very portable and all the owners that I know just love them.
I hope this helps with your decision making.
      Happy sewing......................and Happy New Year,

Thank you; Heather! I will go for a different brand then. I had a Bernina 380 that had umpteen problems with the feed dogs under warrenty so I am not going to go down that route that's for sure.

I thank you too. Maybe I will travel a different route also. I had thought a manual machine would be nice for a back up and also for bobbin work etc. I typically don't like to do bobbin work in my good machines. I will keep looking and give this some more thought.

I looked at the Bernina 1008 online and saw that it sold for about $1,000.00 US. If that is your budget, I bought my Pfaff 150th Anniversary Edition for about the same two years ago. It has a built in walking foot which is great for piecing and quilting. It has a blanket stitch and about 200 more built in stitches, more than I will ever use in my lifetime. It has a wide throat for easily free motion quilting large projects. I love it.
