Geneva, thanks for the heads up on the guide attachment. I do see what you are referring to, ut haven't had a chance to test it yet. If it works, I'll feel a lot better about the investment!

Rosemary, a few weeks ago I was sewing with Sybil and her screen went dark and she started smoking. Literally smoking. I took her in to Mr. Fix it and just like the little witch she is, she was just fine. So, Mr. Fix it told me to put a nicotine patch on her.

Maybe if she used my seam ripper she wouldn't be so fussy! HA!

Debbie, I hope you like the 97 attachment. It's really nice.

Geneva, I have given Heidi a good talking to about smoking, hopefully she was listening. I just bought myself the extension table and 5 more bobbins. Everything else can be for birthdays and Christmas. I was going to get the circular attachment but it's £39! I think I saw a Sewing with Nancy where she used something like a thumb tack and tape to sew circles. Must go back and check that.

I just used up the end of a spool of thread sewing straight lines with the 97D foot and I have to say it is a lovely straight stitch. Love the different measurements i.e. 1/4", 1/8" and 3/8" on the left side of the foot. :cheer:

I have a Bernina 635 with a 5.5 mm stitch plate. Is there a reason to consider purchasing foot #97 or would it be a waste of money for me?

A part ça, bonjour, Chantal! Je suis prof de français en Indiana. C'est un plaisir de voir un peu de français sur ce site!

Brenda, no need. You need the 37 foot. The 97 was made for 9 mm wide machines, because the 37 did not fully accommodate the feed dogs on those machines. You probably have nice straight stitching already.

Rita, you can make your own circular attachment,.... drawing pin taped down to the left of machine with masking tape stabilize your fabric stick it to the pin get a piece of cork and stick over the pin and sew slowly. You can adjust to the size you want. It will be trial and error till you get used to it. My thought is ....how often will you use the attachment to justify £39.00
I hope this makes sense Good luck

Regarding the 97D foot, the difference is that there is a little on notch on the right side of the foot in order to fix a seam guide inside, it is as well a little wider on the left with different markings but it does not affect the stitch as it is done for a straight stitch only, in one word you have a 37 patchwork foot with a seam guide, (I have in front of me the 37, 37D and the 97D) go on Youtube for the Bernina demo. You have a 5.5 mm stitch plate the 37 is perfect, by the way there is a 37 foot with a seam guide (for the 5.5mm stitch plate) I do not remember the number of this foot, I shall check and give you the answer tomorow. Have a nice day. J'espère que tu as compris mon anglais.

Oh, I do love collecting presser feet! Merci, Chantal, pour l'information! I already have foot #57 (foot 37 with the guide on the right). I also already have the guide that they sell with the 97 foot. I have sometimes used it with foot 13, which has 1/4 inch on the left and 1/8 inch on the right of the foot. I then attach the guide to the machine to whatever width of seam allowance I want. It's great to have all of these options!

I'm anxious to hear how it goes for people who are purchasing the Westalee free motion ruler foot. Has anyone received it yet?

                        Chantal, ton anglais est super!

OK, when I got my mail this evening the West. ruler foot was there. I just connected it to the adapter and it looks like it will work just fine, but I haven't had time to try it yet. I will let you know when I do how it goes.

Rita, The next show should interest you ...Barbara Shapel 1605.
I think Alex is demonstrating the Bernina circular attachment.

Thanks Anne, I will have a look at it. I did as you suggested (but found electrical tape better than masking tape which wasn't sticky enough to keep the tack in place) and it worked a treat. I can't show you though because it's part of the CW challenge 'inspired by Libby' - anybody else doing it? It's another topic here on the forum and open to anybody.

Chantal and Brenda, love the snippets of French. Chantal are there any big quilt shows/expos in Paris that we should all know about? Any excuse to visit my favourite city.
