Metallic threads for the embroidery module

    I don't know who's comment has tickled me the most in this thread. I have to admit to looking for polyester thread that just looks like gold and silver for the embroidery module. Glad you had the solution all along, BJ, and glad Renata has a memory like Margo's

        Hooray! I re-embroidered my dragon and phoenix scene for my HOffman Challenge quilt and it came out beautifully. I am so happy I have good friends like Renata who are friends enough to tell me about things I have forgotten. I set my machine with a 3.5 top tension with the metallic thread (Superior at 3.5 and Presencia at 3.0 did well in my test sample, but I ended up using all Superior in this scene), and Bottom Line in the bobbin set at the default embroidery threading. The whole thing embroidered out without a hitch, though the threads did break a few times, but that is almost to be expected with metallics and it seemed to me to be at times when the needle struck the thread. Both the bottom and the top look excellent. I used black metallic for the whole phoenix and blue and darker blue for the dragon. I just finished painting them with the setacolor paints and they look just right. They will also get hot fix crystals after I assemble and quilt the quilt. Later I'll post pictures.               I'm pleased you got the metallic thread tension all sorted out--no sense you reinventing the wheel! You have always been so gracious in sharing what you learn as you play through your blog and on the Forum and it benefits many of us, especially those who use the same machine as you do. My remembering was a small thing; you had already done all the heavy lifting in determining the thread tension. Show us pictures, please, when you can!
