GREAT, I have observed that it stops after two stitches, so this makes sense to me.
I hope they will fix the thread slipping out of the needle also. It happens very often on my machine.

Zarah, In Australia I belong to a Bernina club and about every six months they hold a Series 8 day where we can air any problems and issues. I am a new owner of the 820 but have sewn on Berninas all of my life, so I have found this day (only been to one so far) to be extremely helpful. I don't have an issue with the thread pulling out of the needle, but I did with my 640. It was when I was using Guterman thread and after cutting my threads with the automatic cutter. When I changed threads to Mettler and Rasant the problem stopped altogether. Maybe trying different threads is worth a try. There are so many great quality threads available to try now.
I just love my 820 to bits. I learn something new every day, the possibilities are endless. I know they expensive, but, personally I think they are worth every cent.

Same do I. I love my machine. I use a lot of different threads and the problem is worse if the needle is a bit big for the thread and chosen because the fabric layers are to the thick side. But anyway thanks for the suggestions.
I envy you having the possibility to go to meetings like you describe. That must be wonderful.

hi guys, i have an answer about the thread that says it is broken while it isnt:
my dealer find that bernina deliver my sewing machine with the wrong bobin!!!
so the bobin that i had - is with out a little hole on the lower side of it, so the electronic eye cant
identify that there is a thread or not.
you need to check the bobbin that has a little hole on the lower side of it.
            i hope it is clear.
            cheers

It's totally clear. I can see from an earlier post that you have the 580. We have a different system in the 830. Our bobbins are different and we don't have the loose bobbin case as other machines have.I know what you are talking about from my old Pfaff. If I put a metal bobbin from my first Pfaff in it, it could not use the light to register how much tread was in the bobbin.

it is no the reason - now the alams doesnt fuction at all! so i need to find the source of the problem...seems almost impossible
