    830 gear problem

Well I have done it again & need your help. I was doing an embroidery design on a piece of ultra suede when the machine suddenly shuddered & the base plate popped up. Obviously I stopped sewing & tried to fix the problem (I did use 2 pieces of stabilizer & had a good titanium topstitch needle in ). The needle threader is stuck in the down position-I can't seem to budge it. In addition the bobbin will not pop out nor can I get it to come out manually.
Well that's it. I figure that maybe it is another trip to the dealer unless you folks can talk me though this.

    Try this: http://www.createdbycj.com/from-my-s...rs-of-war.html

I haven't had the need to use this procedure yet but I bookmarked it for reference.

I know CJ is on TheQuiltShow.com so thanks to her for providing the great description!

OK, you need to remove the plastic cover, and the multi purpose tool can be used to disengage the needle. There is a small oblong looking hole above the needle bar. I'm not by my manual, but I think there is a picture of this in the manual. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much. I will try it & let you know. I was in at the dealer on another matter today & she told me to bring it in on Saturday & the tech would fix it in no time.

Thanks for the CJ tip, she was very helpful but I did in the end need a trip to the dealer. My machine affectionaly known as BB (Big Bertha) is back home. The tech Danny who is super & I had a good talk. He talked & I listened. There were some metallic threads caught in the bobbin area & upper threading area where you couldn't see them thus causing the jam.
Tips I have learned when using metallics which some of you may or may not know:
Use at a slower speed & really lower your top tension
If using in an embroidery stitch you will have more sucess with the start/stop button & disengage the footpedal
If the thread breaks look for any extra bits of thread behind the black cover as well as in the bobbin area. This will save you great grief later!
Only pull the thread out through the needle channel when changing it, never through the other way!!!

Glad you got your machine fixed!

Thanks for the tips. I never heard the one about using the start/stop button before, so I'll have to make a note about that.

Just joined this program and really don’t know how it works. Have been trying to get an answer to a problem to my 830 . Working on embroidery and it stopped working when I am only halfway through on a project. Screen shows two gear looking things. I have followed instructions but still won’t work
