Here's a local tip then, it's not pronounced how it's spelt (places seldom are in the UK  ), it's "wooster-sheer" sauce

Don't worry, Lynn, just wait till I post something when I'm tired. Foreign language (mother tongue is German) plus severe dyslexia can cause some really interesting spellings

During one of my first trips to England, a friend told over the phone that she would meet me at her parents-in-law's house in Lester. She told me to look it up on a map. I could not find this place. I rang her back and asked her to spell the name: Leicester.

I now live in "Sothel". You'll find it under "Southwell".

I'm never without a bottle of Lea&Perrins Worcestershire sauce in the fridge.A generous dash goes in every soup or stew.I hope you start your own UK section because I enjoy hearing what women in other countries have to say about all issues(not just quilting). And since its warmed up to about 40 degrees here,I'm heading out to work on the garden beds. Julie

I think a UK thread would be a great idea. I am in Gloucestershire - also going to Malvern in a couple of weeks. I have got a stand booked for end of October this year - myself and a friend are starting a business, web-based and shows, so we are going to check out our pitch! Anybody planning to go to Malvern, please wear a Quilt Show badge if you have one, so we can recognise each other!

I'm relying on you, Lynn, to report back about Malvern. It's too far for me to go.

Well as my request for advice thread has turned into the impromptu home of the UK Quilters...

(That is until someone from Tech or what ever is polite enough to actually answer our requests. IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE????????)

... We're going to Malvern too!!!!!!!!!! YAY!! Looks like Thursday as well as it would be manic at the weekend. Should be there mid morning for a couple or three hours anyway. My list of wants and needs has started. ops:

It sounds like lots of people will be there on thursday, so I'll try to get there too. Fingers crossed the weather is good, it can be a bit of a mud bath when it isn't

                        Question.
My eldest daughter has just told my DH and me that she, her husband & our 2 GDs have bought a 60 foot sailing boat & will be sailing for up to the next 2 years around the Caribbean.

She needs a small heavy duty machine with which to fix the sails & their clothes etc. What would you recommend :?:

My old Singer 503A will stitch up to eight layers of tent canvas. It's a full-size machine though.

Thanks Judy. Size in this case is going to matter. They don't make Singers like they used to.

What about a Featherweight? Or I found a Singer that is about the same size but heavier.

                                Jean,
what a brilliant idea & I have one too that was my Mom's. Can't beat that little featherweight for doing the job. I often take it on retreats.
