    Cheryl Ann`s design wall

Does anyone have any experience with Cheryl Ann`s design wall? I saw an advertisement in a quiltmagazine. It looks handy.

I've looked at it too. I just don't have enough space for one. I finally bought some cheap flannel, sewed it big enough and tacked it to hallway wall with tacks. Works great, except when the cats play hide and seek behind the lower part and then all my blocks fall off. Sandi in FL

I hung a piece of flannel backed vinyl on a wall. Cheap (I love cheap) and works really well.

I took my cutting board that I used when I used to sew clothing for my family and covered it with flannel, then DH put strips on all four sides and clamped them with heavy clamps(purchased at Home Depot) and viola a design wall. I have limited space so it sits on an old sewing chair in the hall by my sewing room. Works great for me.

Cheryl's Design wall comes in several sizes and is meant to be portable. TQS has one for sale in the Shoppe-54"x54". I've been thinking about it also.

I have a piece of foamcore insulation from Lowes that I pin a piece of flannel or thin batting to. When I'm not using it, I can slide it behind a large cabinet to get it out of the way.

At our fall state retreat I've seen portable design walls that people made from the foamcore. It's been cut and then duct taped to create hinges so it will fold for carrying.

My "new" design wall is just a flannel backed picnic tablecloth that I have pinned to the wall - It is big enough to go floor to just shy of the ceiling and is about 6 ft wide. I purchased it at Wal Mart for $3 and I have found it to be the best thing for just sticking a block or blocks up on the wall - No pins and the blocks stay just the way I put them. I have some up there that I put up over 2 months ago and they have not budged.

I have the extra large (72" x 72") design wall and it was a life saver last year when I had to make a queen size quilt. It was the first time I had ever used a design wall. It was very handy except for the fact that the only place I could use it was downstairs in the living room and my sewing room is upstairs. The living room was the only place large enough so I could stand back and look at it. I like it very much because I can take it apart to store in its own bag. I don't have a place to keep it up and have no wall space to hang anything on. I'm glad I have it.

I have the 6'x6' one and it works really well. I didn't have enough room to keep it standing on an angle, so I have it attached to a wall. Holds all my projects very well. It was easy to put together and is very light, but it is a bit pricey. I also have a second studio and decided to go the cheaper route by buying a flannel backed vinyl table cloth, for $7, and I have to say, it works fine. The flannel is cheap and doesn't always hold the blocks without a pin, but that's no big deal. Deb

I have the largest design wall and love it. I put it up when I need it and take it apart in store in the little case until I need it again. It is easy to put up and take down.
