First and foremost, I want to congratulate all those who have and still are losing weight. Keep up the good work. I also want to thank all of you who have posted on this forum, because on Saturday morning I sat and read all the posts from the beginning and I was so inspired that I got off my butt and put in my exercise DVD and am now into my third day of doing a morning workout. (I prefer doing it at home vs. going to a gym). That 15 - 20 pounds gained going through menopause needs to come off. Thank you again for the inspiration.

Lori - You've inspired me. I never thought about getting an exercise DVD. I think that might work for me. Any recommendations?

Mmmmhhhh....... exercise..... I haven't even started to think about that one yet. Maybe in a few months time when there is more weight gone and I don't have to bounce too much up and down during any exercise regime. But I guess I have done one positive thing: I work in a school that is on two floors. We have a lift at each end of the building so that we can have kids in wheelchairs or with mobility problems. All staff have an access card for the lifts and I have always used the lifts because I already do such a lot of running around within the building. Well, I have started to use the stairs - not all the time, but quite a lot. It's a little step in the right direction.

And on the weight front: I have now lost just a touch over 3 stone.

Fantastic Lorchen. You now know you have the power to do it. Stick with it - you are doing great.

That's fantastic Lorchen. And using those stairs instead of the lift will make a big difference too over time.

                    Good morning Terrie,
To answer your exercise DVD question, I have quite a lot that i accumulated over the years but the ones I seem to rotate through the most are Taebo with Billy Blanks (lasted one I have is the Taebo Gold for men and women over 40 - maybe I should now look for one over 50), Winsor Pilates, Debbie Siebers Slim Series and the one I just took out of its packaging on Saturday is the Shaun T Rockin Body Series (purchased about 5 months ago but needed the inspiration I got here to get started). There are so many out there, you just have to see what level you are at and go from there. Some of the workouts in the Rockin Body Series are to much for me yet, but hoping to be able to work up to that level. Good Luck and let me know if you find any that you really like.

Way to go Lorchan, that is brilliant. And using the stairs is great exercise for getting the legs into shapely trim.

I had to look up the stone/pound ratio and this is what I found:

So you have lost over 42 pounds!!

Way to go, Lorchen! One pretty, painted stone at a time!!

Lorchen, That is an amazing accomplishment. Thanks, Margo, for the conversion table. Not only will you, Lorchen, be rewarded with another beautiful stone from Eva (I think that's right? Correct me if I am wrong.) but you will also be better able to keep up with the sorts of the things grandchildren will want grandparents to do. I am sure you are noticing a difference in how you feel. Using the steps is no small matter. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration!

Margo, the Statisticean! Your talents are never-ending!

It's the brits who still love their empirical measures in their daily life. At the same time things like new buildings and anything architectural is measured in metrics. I grew up in Germany, so kilos are actually easier for me (starting weight about 159kg, now about 140kg). Because even pounds are confusing. The metric pound, based on kilos, is 500 grams, but the old empirical pound is about 10% less.

Maybe I should treat myself to a yard (US) or metre (UK) of fabric for every pound (doesn't matter which one) that I'm loosing. That would give me a very nice and big stack of new stash (not that I need any new fabric ) by - let's say - Christmas 2013. Or I could be less greedy and go for FQs. 8)

Trust me....I am no statistician! For what it's worth, I think you deserve at least a yard per pound, but even a FQ would be a treat! Maybe get all fat quarters that play nicely together and for next Christmas you will have a lovely new stash for a REALLY special quilt!

Go for it! Lose the lbs. Increase the stash!. I want to see that fabric pile up. I'd like to see the quilt that collection would inspire.
