Mornin' folks!
No kidding summer has definitely let us know that it's here! I'm not even taking the dog for a walk this morning cause yesterday he had a bit of heat exhaustion. ops: So we'll play it safe today. I got my two hibiscus trees planted in their summer pots already and got the weekly paperwork/bills done! So I'm off to a good start and after I get the outside plants watered and some light cleaning done I'm hitting the sewing room in the basement for the heat of the day and not coming out! Hope everyone has a fabulous day and stay cool!
Happy Stitching,
Margaret

It sure is! We moved dd2 back to St. Cloud yesterday - it was "only" 94 up there as opposed to 98 coming thru Rochester and 96 here in Chatfield. It hit 100 today. I'm not a fan of this kind of heat and the wind is something else. I gotta say I'm so very thankful for central air! I'm still working away at the 2nd wedding quilt. I'm not very optomistic that they'll be done by early July when the kids will all be here. I have too many other things to do to get ready for the "crowd". Oh well, I'll just keep working away a them.
Hugs,
Darce

I would have like some spring too but doing all right with the heat. My husband farms so our crops are really jumping with the heat.
Eileen, yikes! Hope you are feeling better soon!Jules~

Yup, toasty here in Michigan, too! DD #3's graduation party is saturday. She has to waitress every day this week because the owner's daughter has some issues. Don't know if it's her pregnancy (second) or what. I don't think there's a dad in the picture so it's all falling on the owners/grandparents. Today in the humidity, DD #1 and i washed out the garage, hosed down the cement apron in front of the garage and I scrubbed the indoor/outdoor rugs with a deck scrub brush. DH bought it for cleaning the basement floor after we moved in because it was so dirty from, well, from the house being built! It's amazing how much dirt, sawdust, sand, ends up in your new basement! DD#1 took vacation from work to help with the party and I am really glad. DD #2 started her internship on the other side of the state so she's not here till the night before the party. DS doesn't live with us anymore but I hope I can recruit him by the end of the week to help with set up and picnic tables.
Got four rows to sew on the quilt that is part of the graduation gift! But right now I need to go touch up obvious dings in the drywall since we moved in. Some people coming to the party have not seen the house since we moved in 18 months ago so I will have to clean everything to be able to do the "grand tour." Cleaning inside in the air conditioning is a GOOD thing today!!!
Wish me luck with the party - it's supposed to cool off by Saturday --- and RAIN! Oh boy!
Kathy

I had a severe heat stroke many, many years ago and ever since then it only takes about 10-15 mins being out in the heat and my stomach starts to get upset and then the leg cramps start. I keep potassium in my purse at all times. If I have to be out in the heat I put an ice pack on my neck. It seems that if I keep the back of my neck cool the rest of the body does better. I pretty much go from the house, to the car, to work, to the house and occasionally to the store during the summer so I'm in a/c most of the time. I never realized how quickly you can go from okay to completely helpless having a heat stroke. I was lucky I was around a lot of people and there was a paramedic there. They had to soak towels in ice water from the coolers to bring my temp down really quick. I was totally delerious for several mins. They were getting ready to take me to the ER. If I had been alone I would not have been able to do anything to help myself. It took me months to really feel completely well again. I always found it hard to believe that people died of heat strokes. I felt you just got up and went inside and got cool. Not so, I was sitting in a chair, in the shade, and I had a hat on. I felt fine, stood up to go get a drink and that was it. I managed to say I don't feel so good to being on the ground. So everyone be careful in the heat and don't take chances.

Wow, Judy, that would be scarey! To be feeling okay one minute and the next thing you know you are on the ground!
