    Thundery (?) Thursday

Morning everyone. We are supposed to get thunderstorms here later today. A little rain would be good but then it is supposed to cool off and be most cloudy for the next week. In anticipation of the rain, I went out and weeded my rose bed. I transplanted my roses from the old house to the new one last fall. When DH brings me topsoil from the field, I think he stands there and says, "Hmmm which field has the most weeds in it?" My mother says I should buy topsoil and it would be weed free but when you are married to a farmer, that is a good way to send him over the edge! So I used a shovel to get the weeds out in clumps, roots and all plus even some of the dirt just to get all those little roots. It was rather easy, actually. After I put some mulch down, it shouldn't be too bad after this.

This morning I woke up over at 5:30 and got some sewing time in! YEAH! Good way to start the day! And last night I got my checkbook balanced so that is another thing off my mind. Tonight it is time to finish up the graduation invitations and get those out in the mail tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a good day!

    Good morning, Kathy and all~

Yes, we have some good chances for storms here too, though not as much as further north. I am just irked as yesterday was so clear and warm, and just in the time for the weekend, it's going to be wet and colder. So my gardening is getting behind. You have been busier than me out there! My peas, radishes and carrots are starting to pop up though.

Slowly starting to kick this bug we've had to the curb, and am back in the office today. I was too sick even to sew, so that's pretty bad. Maybe this weekend I'll get back to some projects.

I hope everyone has a terrific day!

Oh no, April! You are FAR ahead of me. I don't even have a garden and wouldn't even consider it where our house is. The deer would have it demolished in 10 seconds flat. They came right up to house and ate three yew bushes this winter. At the end of February one evening, I got out the binoculars and counted 85 deer in the field behind our house. No joke!

such a bright sunny day to wake up to - beautiful walk to work
but started to pour mid-morning and hasn't stopped since - apparently that's what we'll have through to monday or even tuesday....
have a bunch of people here for a training course at work - want to go sight-seeing with 5 of em on saturday... what to do in the pouring rain
oh well, i guess a nice visit to a medieval town and castle should be interesting for 2 people each from india and saudi arabia and for an american... it will definitely be different from what they have at home... will ask for their requests tomorrow
not much good heading for a mountain if we can't see past our noses )

Just jumping in your chat thread. Hope that is OK. I'm trying to visit the forums more and I smile when I see these.

We only had about .10" of rain last night so dh is out planting again. He worked on the planter this a.m. switching it from corn to beans. Mostly our son & my FIL have done the switching but some things are left to the official farmer.

Tonight is our son's Honors Convocation as he graduates on Saturday from the community college w/ his Associates. He is only 18 y/o so taking a year off to work and then will finish his bachelor's someplace.

Today I fed men  , ironed grad clothes to son :P , and FINALLY started on my Round Robin which IS DUE ON MONDAY!!! That hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday so I sort of had a panic attack. But all is well.... it is cut & I'm piecing... a Irish Chain sort of border.... like a 9-patch on point... *sigh*

Dear son is not excited about going tonight. We are taking my MIL as DH will save his out time for the graduation on Saturday. I'm excited but really running low on energy right now. I'm anxious for a photo of DS in a tie! Maybe one with me, too!!

It spit on us some here, but never really got going - that's ok, we don't need more rain! There's a chance of rain thru the weekend tho. We've gone from furnace to a/c and now maybe back to the furnace in the space of a couple of days! Hello spring in MN!!! I've been working on the center medallon block of my BOM - we got parts 1 & 2 this month and will get part 3 next month. All the surrounding blocks are done, so then I'll need to start on all the settings. Found a few more fabrics for dd1/dsil's wedding quilt, so got some strips cut for those - I hope to get back to that this weekend. Tomorrow is groceries and housecleaning with a stop at Goodwill in there - hope it all fits in dd2's car! Saturday a couple of friends and I are going to some Mennonite greenhouses - we went to one last year and had such fun!

My brother just called with the most surprising news - he's going to be a daddy again - his youngest (up to now) is the same age as my youngest - they'll both soon be 19! I told him congratulations and that I'm so glad it's him and not me!!!!

She-quilts - we love having anybody drop in here that wants to!

            Congratulations to the graduates!!!
            Hugs,

            Darce

Lotti, I hope your weather clears so that your visitors from away can see some Swiss splendor! As I recall (I was maybe ten years old when visiting there), even with fair weather, we still had to up very early in the morning to maximize those mountain views before the clouds would move in as the day warmed. Our rain here at least as been spotty, so there are breaks now and again.

Joyce, absolutely everyone is welcome to visit and post on in our little "playground". A number of our buddies from the old forums have not migrated yet, and the more the merrier.
