Thursday Morning
My first thing to do this morning is attend my Weight Watchers meeting at 8 am. I became a Lifetime Member 3 weeks before Christmas! Lost 19 pounds since August 19, 2010 (my hubby lost 23 just by following my plan). It has been really good for us as a couple to do this weight loss thing together.
Then, my "quilting buddy" will be here around 10am. Hopefully, she will help restore my "quilting mojo" I complained about yesterday.
My daughter who is a freshman in college on winter break just returned from her first "road trip" yesterday. She and a friend left last Saturday to visit a friend in Virginia Beach. It's about 3 hours from here. It's the first time we let her take the car and GPS and travel that far. Yes, I was nervous and did not want her to go but my husband and her thought it was a good idea. I was outvoted, so, she went. I am happy to say I survived her first "road trip". She is my only child and it is so hard to see her grow up. This "letting go" is really hard but in order to have a good relationship with her I must. Things our parents never told us!!!!!!!
Have a safe and healthy day,
Take care,

Donna I can only imagine how hard letting go is. I have to volunteering this morning, then workout as I haven't the last couple of days, then laundary and keep working on getting those magazines organized. Wow this has become a major project, but a fun one. It is inspiring to see all the different quilts.
have a great day everyone

Good Morning! Today is my day off work so I have tons of stuff I'd like to do but I'll have to stick with the stuff I have to do! LOL My FIL has surgery today so the hubby is going with him. Here in about an hour or so I have to take DS and DD to their kids club and get home to take on the 2 year old for the day. The baby is going to his new babysitter for half the day today and the whole day tomorrow which kinda bums me out since I have to be away from him so much for work anyway but he has to get used to the new lady. My FIL has kept him while we work since he was born so we don't know how he's going to deal with having a substitute while Grandpa recovers from surgery. But on the upside, I did lose a day at work on the schedule so I have a little extra time to fiddle with my stitching. Well once I find where said stitching made off to around here...Have a lovely day!

Good morning all! I'm dwadling around here and should already be at work. My hours are very flexible which I'm happy about, but times like this I have trouble getting myself out the door. dd1 called as usual about 20 to 8 on her way home from taking her fiance to work. They only have 1 car for now, so on days she works she has to get up extra early and have him on Post by 6 am. Of course by the time I'm done chatting with her, I'm behind where I need to be, so it's past time to make sure I'm ready to walk out the door before she calls! I'm working every day this week to try to get ahead of the year end bookwork game so I can take a little extra time off next week (Mon & part of Tues) when she's home. She's flying in Sat afternoon so we can go wedding dress shopping! Yay!!!! I haven't spent any time sewing since Sunday, but tonite is small quilt group, so I'll either take an embroidery project that's for a wallhanging or an ancient UFO I've been handquilting forever.
Donna - congratulations on you & hubby's weight loss. WW is a great program and I need to be on it - again. My youngest is also a freshman in college and even with having more than one child that letting go isn't easy.
Dara, prayers for a successful surgery for your fil and that your little one adjusts well to the substitute sitter.
Stacey, I gotta get going sorting thru all my magazines too - I started out well, but now they're just getting piled up again.
Hope those of you with all the extra snow get shoveled out - gotta say I'm really glad it wasn't us for a change! We had our record setting in Dec - most snowfall ever for that month. I'm ready for spring!

Donna -- how great - congratulations on your achievement! I'm AGAIN trying to lose this extra poundage that I have put on - ugh! I'm trying to stay motivated - I lost 4 pounds since the beginning of January, so that's something.
We got a whole lotta of snow outside -- but the roads are passable and the driveway's clear. We're heading off to visit my ds and his fam in the DC area tomorrow -- we'll be gone for the weekend. We do this every year for the MLK holiday (dh's off) and we enjoy seeing our grandkids in a quieter way then when the whole bunch of us are together.
Good news is I've done 90 hs triangles so far -- only 510 left and then on to the next step of the mystery quilt I'm working on. They go pretty fast. I've been giving myself a goal everyday of how much I have to do to move on -- so I'm hoping to get at least 200 done today - since I'll be away for the weekend.
Hope you all have a good day

Morning, everyone!
PEGGY - only 510 more HST's to go! You are my hero! I have quilts that require things like that in the back of my mind but that seems to be where they stay!
DARCE - Wedding dress shopping! How fun!
DONNA - Congrats on the weight loss. Keep up the good work. Winter seems like such a hard time to do that. Hope you can find your quilting mojo now.
My 6-day-old cold is finally subsiding (YEA!) so I hope to go home after work/after eye doc appointment and get housework I was too tired to do last weekend. Then I want to watch Grey's Anatomy and applique or sew binding on. (It's a toss up) We are having company Saturday night to celebrate New Year's with a neighboring couple/good friends. We usually get together New Year's Eve but this year we all had other commitments. We play Tripoli and stay up very late talking and toasting now and then.
Boss at this part-time job doesn't care if I am on the internet as long as I get the work done. I am basically a glorified answering machine/stats person one day a week. I don't get paid a lot but it helps pay the quilting bills and since he is so easy-going, I keep coming back!

Has anyone else noticed that this whole country of ours in having some harsh winter weather this year? We don't usually have snow that stays around more than a few days....usually, but this year it came very early, dumped a lot and it is still hanging around....and the temperatures have been in the low teens for more days than I can count. I live in the Carson Valley of Nevada near Reno and the Sierra Nevada mountains are 2 miles to the West from my house....most of the snow stays up at Lake Tahoe with some coming over and falling here maybe 4 or 5 times a season....this year it has not followed that routine....just before thanksgiving they got major feet of snow there and we were blessed with 8 to 10 inches here....the problem has been that it hasn't entirely gone away yet and there are piles of it not melting. Not really complaining because I love the snow on the mountains, but just wondering about it...no global warming going on here for sure! :? Anyway in about 3 hours I will be getting in the truck and GiGi (the cat) and I will be driving over those mountains....possible snow showers by afternoon....gotta get going before that don't I! Have a great Thursday everyone.

Karen,
Say "Hello" to my old stomping grounds! Have fun! They say we are to get 10" of snow over the next three days. Right now we are in a weather advisery. I've been up since 5:30, and haven't seen a flake, yet! I doubt we will get more than an inch! For some reason, it is hard to predict the weather for this region!

Ah, but when they do arrive Dawn..take cover under a blanky and read or better yet...go sew another beautiful something!
Thanks Margo....I will take it easy and listen to some nice Zen music to keep me calm as I drive through the flakes!

Hi Ladies
From a beautiful, hot sunny Auckland. I am still on leave this week, back to work on Monday, although I did get called in on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for a few hours each day. I have pulled out fabric about three times during this break and put it away again, I just couldn't get motivated, might have something to do with the heat, and sun.
Enjoy your snow, I have never had a snow storm, Auckland is too far north, and to close to the sea, more sub tropical than anything, especially in summer.

Dawn--our weather is very unpredictable as well and we are always told it is our proximity to the Rockies--makes system behave weirdly at times. We are to get 10 cm (about 5 inches) of snow tomorrow as well. Not too many flakes falling today though but the drifts are about 5 feet high in our driveway from last weekend's storm! We had a cold summer and now are having a long cold and snowy winter.
Karen--safe travels and enjoy the show.
Donna--our youngest daughter is away at university and letting them go never gets easy. My mom always reminds me that parents are to give their children roots and wings!

Hi Everyone,
WE keep getting snow. Yesterday dh drove me to work and home again because he has all wheel drive and I only have front wheel drive. That was a 90 mile round trip. He is wondeful!!.
I have not been able to sew in weeks. I moved everything to the finished room in the basement, but have only had time to start organizing the stuff. I have a sweatshirt jacket to finish for my mother's birthday on Mon. That will have to wait until Sun night. I just have to add the trim to the bottom and along the front edges.
Donna and Darce, my youngest is a freshman in college also. Last week she had some friends from school visit and they went to ski one day. I was nervous, but I'm getting better about her driving long distances by herself. It seems harder to let her go than her older siblings.
Have a good evening.
Prayers and hugs for all.
