    Hi,
    I haven't been blogging lately - but
I will be at the show next week. I'll hope to meet up with some of you.

Pat, do you have a booth? If so, what number, and if not, we hope to meet you, too!

No, no booth, just a contestant and eager quilt enthusiast!
        I'll look for you.

Waiting! Did I see Robin's name on a list of winners?

Indeed you did! The miniature category was amazing, but it was under glass and impossible to photograph. We aren't supposed to post photos we took of quilts, so maybe Robin will post for us! We were really excited for her when her name was called during the awards ceremony. Go, Robin!

By the way, miniature creators, Robin Gold told me that Paducah is the ONLY big show that has a competitive category for miniatures. Bonnie Browning told us that AQS would like to see more quilts submitted. One woman had a mini in the case that had only been quilting for two years

Do you know was Robin's quilt a new one? Was it the one that was entered in Houston? I think it had Poppy Fields in the title.

For what it's worth, I had a miniature quilt accepted in 1995, which was the very first year that AQS had the category!
I didn't get a ribbon, but I did get to "hang with the big girls!"
And I can tell you that the caliber of miniatures that are entered today are 20 times more intricate than they were that first year!

Houston has competitive miniature and art miniature categories. Or are you only talking about AQS shows?

Thanks for setting me straight, Nancy! I thought the concept a little odd! I really don't know what I'm talking about, but am intrigued with the concept of miniatures, especially the "whole cloth" type.

Didn't Robin's other quilt recieve an award or honorable mention in Houston?

I can't upload pictures of quilts, but here are a few human interest photos, possibly in a couple of posts depending on what the Forum will let me post at one time.
