It is such a great idea - wish there was one here! Janet thank you so much for the close ups. Truly beautiful, every detail. I just can't quite see well enough to figure out how you put that tiny cheque border around the alphabet squares. And are the letters embroidered? I really love the sheep at the very top and the tiny letters on the berries.

Thanks, Rita! The checks (and I love the way you spell it!) were made from a homespun woven fabric. I appliqued them using the freezer paper method and starch, and then raw edge appliqued a linen square over the check square. I'll attach a close up, before I blanket stitched around the linen. The letters are brass letters that I glued and hand sewed to the linen. The berries on the top were fussy cut from the same fabric I used for the binding. I collect and adore sheep, so I love sneaking them in several of my quilts!

Congratulations, Janet on winning a ribbon on such an oustanding quilt! There is just so much detail in that quilt, that it hard to see it all at first glance. I'm glad others have asked you questions, because then I went back (single clicked on my computer) and did the blow up trick by pressing control and the letter Z at the same time while using the scroll up with my mouse. Got really up close and personal! Congrats again!

Keith, congratulations to you, too! There's nothing better for the ego than winning a ribbon! Question; is the silver interier border done with thread, or is it an add-on trim. It just looks like it has so much dimension!

Karen the Fussy Kut Kween! Thanques for the spelling 'cheque'! I usually 'cheque' my spelling before I submit a repli - but I am just so tired today. I gess if you are going to create quilts using the alfabet you would have to know your letters and notice the odd spelling miss take. ops: Your uneek deezines and your atencion to deetail is what wins you the medles, I gess.

I do have a quilt in the show!! Actually it's my SOTTT quilt!! It's #209 called Stars Around the World. It is entered in the Computer Only Category - all quilting was done with my Intelliquilter on my A1 Longarm. If you happen to see it, I'd love a picture!!

                        Have fun at the show!
Michelle, I owe you a huge apology. THere were so many people around your quilt, that i intended to go back to take the photo. To make a long story short, I forgot to do that. So sorry.

No problem at all Cheryl. Luckily, another friend was attending and snapped a few pics for me! All is well...

Janet, your quilt is fantastic, Congratulations!

Hi Dawn! The Learning Quilt is all turned-edge appliqué, quilting, crystals, and buttons. Maybe you're asking about the square interior crystal border on the silver/grey tongues? They're quilted pebbles with a cosmojet crystal in each one (mostly cosmojet of various sizes - like 1,400 of them). Outside of that is a quilted feather border. And the silver/grey tongues are cottons, metallic coated cottons, and silk, background quilted pretty heavily with straight lines.

                              Here's a better photo:

Wow! You can put a pretty large file into a Forum post!

Thanks for everyone's wonderful comments! It's nice to belong to such a great group.

Thanks for the photo Keith - it's great to be able to see the whole quilt. I think the yellow check fabric is a stroke of genius, it really lifts the whole thing. I am wondering about all those circles in the centre, are they needle turn, raw edge or what? And, would it be possible to get a close up of the border too, please?
