    WISCONSIN QUILT SHOPS -NEEDED

I am going to APPLETON WI for a wedding in June... combine with family vacation... are there any NOT TO BE MISSED QUILT SHOPS via Chicago driving north? returning the same way? I live in mid MI and plan to drive to GRAND RAPIDS to see my sister then on to Chicago then to the wedding in Appleton.

Where can I get quilt info for WISCONSIN ? WE get the COUNTRY REGISTER IN MI that has the majority of quilt shops ( still in business) listed.

    Any other great tourist stuff??

    THANKS FOR ANY INFO

Nancy's Notions is in Beaver Dam, about an hour south west of Appleton. It's a fun shop! Aside from quilting, they have everything you need for making clothing, and of course, tons of machine applique designs and Madeira thread! I purchased all of my Koala sewing furniture from them. Love my Koala!

Quite a few shops have closed down in the Milwaukee area. Patched Works is in Elm Grove (off I41/45), Quilted Basket is in Menomonie Falls (off I41/45). Quiltropolis is in Chicago proper, Vogue Fabrics (mostly fashion - some quilt fabrics, fabulous prices) is in Evanston, IL. There are more in the Chicago suburbs but I have not been able to find them. If you are driving North on I41 through Menasha then Appleton: Primitive Gatherings is in Menasha, Appleton has Sew n' Sew on N. Silverspring Dr. If you are traveling North on I43 (along the lakeshore)towards Appleton, Cedarburg has several and it is a unique town. There are several in Green Bay (north of Appleton). There are several in the Madison/Wisconsin Dells area but this is in the middle of the state. There may be others that I do not know about (yet) Hope this helps. Terri

Appleton has Piece by Piece on College Ave; just a few miles off Hwy 41 and has much larger selection of fabrics and samples. Sew 'n Sew has more machine embroidery and fiber art emphasis. There are also two shops mor on the north side of Appleton, but I am forgetting their names right now. Mill House Quilts in Waunakee, north of Madison is huge, and is in an old mill. Green Bay has Quilter's Connection, it is a bit off the beaten path, but near Lambeau Field. Hope that helps.
