I'll be at the Des Moines show on Friday and Saturday. I know there are plenty of vendors at the show but are there any shops in the area that are must see? I'm travelling with 3 current and/or former TQS members and shop hopping on the way. Teresa

I have had to change my Des Moines days to Thursday and Friday. Teresa, I will watch for you and your friends on Friday. I will be with my #1 DD and her two DDs. We are trying to keep them interested in quilting as they are entering their teen years.

Ok Cathy--I'll be wearing glasses. And more but glasses for sure!

I won't be going to Des Moine - too far from Ireland all we have is the Knitting and Stitching Show at the RDS in Dublin in November. But you all go off to Des Moine and Houston, don't worry about me... I'll be fine
Don't forget, you have the 1st International Quilt Festival of Ireland coming next year. What a thrill you'll all have-being in on the beginning.

I have returned from the Des Moines show. It was wonderful as usual. The quilts were beautiful. It is not as crowded as Paducah and not as spread out. I spent way too much ops: , but can hardly wait to start playing with my goodies . I did see Teresa for a few minutes as we were going into the show. I wish I could have spent more time getting to know her. Teresa, I hope you have as much fun as I had. I won't be able to go to Houston so my next show will be Paducah. If I could stand to part with a quilt I make, maybe I would have more money for more shows.

Theresa I have now got this image in my head of you wearing nothing but glasses and a TQS name tag.

Eileen, I am really looking forward to the IQFOI and I am hoping to meet some fellow TQS'ers there. I was trying to book myself into the lectures and classes the other day but it would not accept that I had filled in my name, address etc. Has anybody else tried to book without success? Quite often I find it is a problem for us because we don't have post codes but I would have expected and Irish show to not have that problem. I did email the website and got a reply from Jim West to say that he would have the web designer look at the site.

Ok, this just prompted me to try to sign up for the classes and lectures again and this time I did succeed!

                      yeah!
i'm still planning on going to ireland next year - but can't make any actual bookings until (hopefully early) next year as i have to coordinate my vacation with our exhibitions and events - and much of that is still open
but have tentatively put in the vacation time so nothing but reallly unmoveable things can prevent my coming over - it's high time for another vacation in ireland as well.

I'm not sure who else won ribbons, but Janet Stone's "Mutton But Letters" took overall BEST OF SHOW
and Barbara Black also won a Best of Show ribbon.

Janet's quilt is amazing! I was just looking at all the winners online and they are all stunning quilts. I think I will give up now. I wonder if there is a 12 step programme for recovering quilters :?:

Rita, we all can't win the pretty purple ribbons, but I'm so glad that they will share their work with us so we can see what's possible!

Can you possibly provide a link to photos of the winners??

Here's the link that I used - http://www.americanquilter.com/shows...lt_winners.php Janet's quilting is just stunning.

Aw thanks Ritzy - I was only joking really. I don't think I could stop quilting if I tried.
