Good for you to have a quilt in the show, Ritzy! Congrats!!

I would love to visit that show but would have to chat with dh about it & my girlfriend to see if she want to go along.

Do you have good hotel recommendations?

I am hoping to get there for at least a day. I only live about 3 hours away and I have a quilt in the show also...congratulations on your entry, ritzy! If hubby can finagle a vacation day off, I'll be there either Wednesday or Saturday. Good luck!!
      Back to Quilting!

I will be at the show On Thursday and possibly again on Friday with my husband. Our plans are not yet set in stone (nothing like last-minute planning) but we are taking a very mini-vacation through SW Wisconsin and Iowa prior to arriving in Des Moines Thursday morning. I can't wait to see your quilts and hope to run into you at the show. Where on Friday are you and Carol meeting?

I am now officially not going to Des Moines. :|

I thought I'd be fine with not going and I am about 50% fine. Maybe next time! I'll be sad to miss a TQS meet-up and an overnight with a friend that lives just 40 mins from DM now.

Have a blast & tell us all about it!

I am getting anxious about going to the AQS show in Des Moines. Looking forward to seeing the feedsack special exhibit. I was talking to Margo and her sister lives in Ankeny. She is going to meet us at Joy's booth at 9:30a.m. on Friday. Only a few days away to meeting Ritzy, Janet and other TQS members and saying hi to Bonnie again!!!! My sister (Nancy) will be coming Friday afternoon around 2p.m. We will both be back at the show on Saturday. Going to be a fun filled weekend - son, Joe tests for Black belt, AQS show, ISU vs Utah football game Saturday night at Jack Trice stadium. Safe travels everyone and see you soon!!!!

Well gals, I just got back from the show in Des Moines ( I could only stay thru Wednesday) and it's a great show. But really, have you ever been to a bad quilt show?? I don't think I have. A bad day at a quilt show is always better than a good day at work! It was particularly a fantastic day at the quilt show for me, because my quilt, Nouveau Quattro Alfabetico, won Best Machine Quilting!!! OMG!!! Bonnie Browning from AQS called me on the phone on Tuesday and just suggested I be at the awards ceremony Wednesday morning. My husband and I were just going to take our time getting to Des Moines (it's only 3 hours away) but instead, we left at 4:30AM (who is up at 4:30AM???....nobody!!!) and got there in time for them to call my name. I just about fainted!! My head continues to swell!! I also saw Carol's beautiful quilt but didn't see Ritzy's, because I don't know Ritzy's real name! But I'm sure it was lovely. There was some heavy competition this year. Have fun all you gals that are going!!! Save some money for Houston!!
