    Lowell Quilt Festival

I'm going to be in the Lowell/Boston area in mid-August, and may be attending the Lowell Quilt Festival on Saturday, Aug. 14. Has anybody been to this event? Would it be worth missing a day sightseeing in Boston?

I've been there a few years ago. The program is wonderful, great teachers and many exhibits. What's to see in Boston anyway!

Mary, I went to the show last year for the 1st time. It was a nice show, adequate but not as large as the AQS shows or the Mancuso shows. There are usually great teachers, but I didn't take any classes. Just down the street from where the show is held, is the New England Quilt Museum and the American Textile Museum. Put all 3 together and you'd have a great time for the day.

What are you hoping to see in Boston ?

We will be meeting our 1995-96 German AFS son in Montreal (where he will be presenting a paper at a professional conference) and traveling with him for 10 days or so. I've made out the over-all itinerary, but am leaving it up to him to determine what he wants to see in Boston. (In between the two cities, we will be driving down Vermont's Hwy. 100 - I've heard it's beautiful!)

Mary, Vermont is beautiful! And there are lots of things to do and see in Boston, depending on what you like. The art museum is well worth a visit, and if you are interested, the JFK museum is easy to reach by metro and free bus. I wish I could join you!
