    Spring International Quilt Show moving

I just found out this morning that the Chicago show will no longer be held in Chicago, starting in 2011. It is moving to Cincinnati next year. I must say that I am very sad. Right now it is only two hours away. The 5 hours it would take to get to Cincinnati is just too far for me and my quilting buddies. It seems the mid section of the country has all the luck... Paducah, Lancaster, and now Cincinnati. I know those who are close to the 2011 location are ecstatic. But for those of us up north, we're quite upset that there will no longer be a major show close to home.

They have probably decided that it is far too expensive to hold in Chicago. Chicago is losing alot of shows due to expense.

I am sorry to hear that. The only reason I have been able to go is because it was only two hours away. Doubt I will be able to go next year.

I kept putting off Chicago because it was close and I could always get there. I will never go to Cincinnati. I can't believe they would not do Chicago. And now it's too late for this year. I am so bummed

Gloria - me, too! I can't go to Chicago this year because of Sweet Adelines, but had hoped to go in the near future. I'll bet we could get to Cincinnati if we put our minds to it - I'll drive!

We had heard rumors of it moving to Indianapolis, which would be fantastic for us in E. Central Illinois. Cincinnati is still a doable day bus trip!

As someone from the Western New York area, I'm happy to hear about the change in location. I've often thought of going to the Chicago show, but flyng into Chicago is such a hassle, and I've heard horror stories about the hotel connected to the show. Frankly, that stopped me dead in my tracks. I sure think that Cincinnati location sounds a lot more attractive. I hope it works out for everyone.

I THOUGHT it was because the facility is so much larger with better parking, less traffic and congestion. I also thought they have a lot of other museums and activities in the area... ROCK AND ROLL MUSEUM to list just one. I liked Cinnci the one time I went there probably because it is similar to MI being a Great Lakes region.

I think in a couple of years everyone will think it was a great idea.

I too wish it would stay in Chicago, but I also know that there were problems, especially with enough providers of food associated with the venue.
I am sorry at this point that I haven't taken advantage of it being in Chicago this last couple of years because I doubt I will be able to get to the show in Cinncinati.

Hey Mary, do I see a road trip in our future? Are you going to the Nancy's Notions sale beginning of May? I'm thinking I might check it out.

Got the flyer the other day, and considered it for about 10 seconds - until I remembered all the fabric I just refolded in my new studio, and the miles of thread I put on the pegboard, and the list of planned projects on my white board! (That's not to say I might not be convinced to go anyway, however!)

That sale is always tempting. The 2 hour drive is not a fun idea, since I just got back from lower MI (are Wisconsinites the only ones that call it that?) and just don't think I want to do that. I got a project all cut while gone, so now is my time to SEW!!!!!

Chicago is a four hour drive for me and Cincinnati is about six hours. I've never been to the Chicago Show, but have traveled there several times. I've only been to Cincinnati once, but I enjoyed it so much that I'd love to go back someday. It's a beautiful city and I think it would be worth the trip.
