Quilter's Home magazine - no more Mark Lipinski??

I just found out today that as of late September, Mark Lipinski severed all relationships with Quilter's Home magazine (as well as the Quilt Out Loud segments he did with Jodie Davis).

Darn! I truly enjoyed that magazine, and it was mostly because of his let-it-all-hang-out sense of humor -- a refreshing change from the staid old quilting magazines.

Beth, where did you learn this about Mark L.?
I saw in the recent issue of Quilter's Newsletter that the editor-in-chief of that magazine was leaving to become the editor-in-chief of Quilter's Home. I wonder how she will be able to keep Quilter's Home with the same quirky nature, or as you say will it just become another staid old quilting magazine. I've let most of my subscriptions lapse because they are all the same old same old, but Quilter's Home was one that I always read cover to cover each month. I'll be sorry to see it change. Marge

Oh, no. What bad news. He is such a breath of fresh air as well as lots of fun to watch and listen to and read. Some energy has sure drained out of the atmosphere. Hope he's back soon in a big way.

I saw it on his blog too. And I just renewed my sub for that Mag, I dropped all the others cuz' that one entertained me more. And the Quilt out Loud, I had just renewed that sub for his segments too. I kinda feel like I was rearended, I coulda used that cash for more fabric! :?

            Lissette,
Most magazines will send you money back if you cancel your subscription. I'm going to wait and see what changes are made before I decide what to do. I'm sure they work a couple of months ahead.

Frances, that is exactly what I was thinking, I hope they can keep the same feel to the magazine. Last year I let all but QH subs lapse. So here's me crossing my fingers

Darn it! I like the off the wall, Quilter's Home Magazine, and read it cover to cover. I will have to wait until my next issue to see when it expires. I am almost due for renewal on Quilt Out Loud. Guess the decision is made on that one. That's a relief though.... I never go to the site except to watch Quilt Out Loud.

Thanks for posting this even if it did ruin my day!

I loved Quilter's Home Magazine. I am sure that there will be more changes in the future with several quilt magazines. New Track Media bought CK publishing.
New Track products now include: McCall's Quilting, Quick Quilts, Quilter's Newsletter, Fon's and Porter Love of Quilting, Quiltmaker...and a host of other hobby magazines. They also own Qnn.TV and Fon's and Porter Love of Quilting on PBS.

I am sure we will not know of the terms or reason for separation between Mark Lipinski and New Track Media. We can only speculate. There has been several personnel changes in the other magazines as well. As with any acquisition, there are changes and new ideas for direction.

I have no doubt that Mark Lipinski will continue to his magic in another place. When one door closes ...another opens!!
I will continue to check his blog for any updates.

I'm devastated! I have always looked forward eagerly to the arrival of a new issue of Quilter's Home Mag. In addition to good solid quilting info, etc., the best part by far was Mark's irreverent attitude. He's the kind of person who I wish lived next door to me - I can imagine the fun we'd all have over interesting dinners.
I think I'm going to go sulk for a while.

Yes, just like Alex leaving "Simply Quilts" - there will be something new and exciting.

"It's a New Day!" for Mark, too!

I agree, it was the BEST mag out there! Quirky and informative. I don't really need any more patterns!

Jan Magee, who will be the boss for QH is also going to be working with Alex and Ricky on their new magazine. She did a great job while in charge of Quilters' Newsletter.

I'm just sorry to see that one publishing house is gobbling up all of the magazines. I hope they don't decide that a "formula" that works for one will work for all.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out. I've let my QN suscription lapse, along with several others because they were all the same tired thing. That makes me wonder how she will be able to give these two a character seperate from all the other cookie cutter magazines.
