I have to confess that my absolute favorite movies were Toy Story I and Toy Story 2. The humor in them sets me off still. They may have been billed as for children but the innuendoes were for the grown ups in the family. One of my favorite quotes was about Little Bo Peep. She was standing next to one of the little blocks with letters on them. One of the other toys said she was a hussy or something of that sort because she had been "around the block.".
I loved the scene with Tour Guide Barbie in the toy store.
I guess things that make me laugh are my favorites. And of course you have to be with someone else who likes to laugh.

I love the "children's" movies anymore. The Incredibles was a riot, especially when Frozone was trying to find his super suit. (voice was Samuel L Jackson) "Woman, where is my super suit?... We are talking about the greater good!!" (woman's voice) "I am your WIFE, I am the GREATEST good you'll ever have!"

Lets see, other favorite "children's" flicks - Shrek 1 and 2 (haven't seen 3 yet), Cars, Over the Hedge, A Bug's Life, Antz, Toy Story 1 and 2, Anastasia, All Dogs go to Heaven, ... ok anything Disney 8)

I loved Monsters, Inc. That was a most entertaining movie! I really enjoy watching the children's films, Toy Story, etc. My ears and eyes are not assaulted, I'm just entertained!

My all-time favorite movies are Forrest Gump and Cast Away. I guess I like Tom Hanks!

Recently, I adorred the movie Juno. It gave me hope for the young generation after all.

I can always watch Gone with the Wind, Ten Commandments, and for a laugh, Planes Trains and Automobiles, although that one has tons of swearing!

I also love anything with Richard Gere. I think he's so handsome! Pretty Woman, Shall we Dance, etc.

As for the kids movies, I love Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast. I prefer the older style of animation that Disney did so well.

Also, lately, the Bucket List was really good. Made me think alot.

Finally a beautiful spring weekend! Yea! Nancy in NY state

I am a classic movie fanatic--Rear Window, Harvey, Laura, You Can't Take It With You, Arsenic and Old Lace, all the old Charlie Chan movies, Sherlock Holmes movies with Basil Rathbone, and any Agatha Christie movies made from her books. Newer movies I like: Fried Green Tomatoes, Phantom of the Opera, Indiana Jones series, and I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now.

Mandy, I too place What Dreams May Come at the top of my favorites list. I also love Shadowlands, The Sixth Sense (face your fears) Forrest Gump and The Green Mile! Has anyone seen the claymation films called Wallace and Grommit? They are British humor and somewhat difficult (for me) to understand, but a real hoot!
I'm with the others about not being current with recent films. They just haven't caught my interest. However, on my flight to Hawaii recently, I did watch The Bee Movie, and it was delightful. I love movies that make me giggle. As a youngster, I got a kick out of the Jerry Lewis movies  I know, strange sense of humor, huh?

I don't see many movies but watched a couple at our daughter's home while there for 2 months this winter. One was the Grommit & Wallace movie, something about a Pest Control in a town that valued it's veggies - can't remember the name, tho! Yes, it was a hoot, and I got MOST of the humor, I think...

The other movie I enjoyed was Will Smith in The Legend of Bagger Lance (I'm pretty sure about the name). Quite intriguing - takes place in the south around the time of the depression. I'm also a history buff so the peak back in time was very interesting to me.

We took my mom to see "Leatherheads" this weekend, a movie about the beginning of professional football back in 1925, and she really enjoyed it, as did the rest of us. The clothes, the speech patterns, and the banter were like a trip back in time.

Wow---I really thought I didn't have much of a favorite list, but most of the movies that everyone listed I saw and enjoyed. Just want to add Dirty Dancing to the list. I loved the music and dancing. When I was growing up, my mom and I would watch the old black and white 40s movies. We would sit with our hankies and bawl at some of them. Portrait of Jenny, Rebecca, From Here to Eternity (that might have been in color and later than the 40s) all come to mind. What a fun thread.

When we have our small quilt retreats (4 or 5 of us) we bring along all our favorite movies and they play in the background. That way you don't have to watch every minute and still know what is going on. It seems we watch every chick flick ever made-- the ones that get played every year: Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, Roman Holiday, Sabrina (both versions), French Kiss, Big Fat Greek Wedding, Wedding Date. Sweet Home Alabama, Holiday.... to name a few!!
