I loved this because it brought back such good memories. I grew up in a home with both cats and dogs, and one dog in particular, a white German shepherd, husky mix, was very friendly with the cats. She would curl up with them, mother them, groom them, and generally care for them just like they were her puppies. One cat would not tolerate it (although Zinka kept trying, lol) but the others all came along as kittens and quickly got with the program and Zinka became "Mom" to all of them. So cute...

Lynn Thanks for sharing this piece -- Me who is deathly afraid of rodents of any type ( I think I was cheese in a past life) even enjoyed the major message. And what does this have to do with quilting -- ok not much but it has to do with our world and since I have been accused of being a Ricky and Alex cheerleader never wanting to hear a bad word I am burying this comment at the end of the line. Dogs, cats, rats, music, harleys, motorhomes(that is mine) and everything else we have in our lives is important and meaningful and that is what makes our quilting great.

Peace to everyone and be true to yourself. Enjoy the quilting and enjoy what ever else you want -- has someone ever heard of the off button.

When I was a kid we had a dog, a cat, and a duck. They napped in a pile on the patio. It was the darnedest thing! Mom used to have a picture of it. When the cat had kittens the dog thought they were his. He would try to keep them on his blanket. As soon as he got one in place another would take off. It was so funny!

When our kids were growing up we raised pygmy goats. We also had a white Pekin duck. Called Daffy, of course!

Daffy adopted one of our female goats named Rachael, who was generally bullied by all the other female goats. When it was time to feed each day, Daffy kept the other goats away from the dish she and Rachael shared. (Ducks can be quite aggressive!)

When Rachael's time to have her kids arrived, Daffy stayed right by her side during delivery, and even helped her groom them and clean up after the birth! And for months afterward, Daffy was a protector of both the kids and the mother - grooming those baby goats just like a mother. Amazing animal world.

                    Fun to remember.

                      That was wonderful.

Here's another one that was emailed to me a long time ago, but it still amazes me.
