I am going to have to start keeping a dictionary. Where do you people learn this stuff?

    Totally puzzled in AZ

DITTO to all the positive comments. I really like TQS for all it's parts and the ability to "chat" with other quilters all over this great big world. I've quilted a long time and find every day something new to learn. I believe my money has been well spent. I didn't think I would really go back and view past episodes again but just last night I wanted to make the 1 seam flying geese and couldn't remember exactly how to do it nor which episode it was on. Sooo, off to the Forum I went and found info is in 107 and watched it, which then led me to episode with Libby Lehman, which will lead me to another tonight. So much info to gleen from this show. And I've learned more about thread here than at my LQS. It's a great format for those who enjoy something a little different and I can always click the off button if I choose. THANKS TQS staff for all your hard work. Rena

          My two cents worth.

When I watched the very first show, I thought Alex and Ricky went way over the top in enthusiasm and the"WOW, look at us, we're putting on a show!" routine. But I kept with them as it was a learning curve on their part - and ours.

As the year progressed, each show got better and better. When the opportunity came to sign up for one or two more years, I did so for both years and I'm not sorry. I keep learning new techniques and tricks. Perhaps not all are my thing, but it's good seeing them. I've enjoyed some wonderful quilts, seen new gadgets displayed, and found some humor. And that's just watching the show. I love learning with Alex's and Ricky's BLogs, and don't forget the sharing of our BOM's.

go to the forum topic Chat Room and way down is a discussion ((from a year ago would you believe) there is a topic CHAT ROOM LINGO---some of the standard abbreviations are there then you just sort of guess because you understand the concept For example dh =dear
(or what ever d word fits that day) is explained along with some others but dgd dear granddaughter is not explained. and new ones pop up daily but that old topic will give you a start.

I'd love to chat with people, but nobody is ever there when I go.

Katzz, You are hysterical! I think you're a great writer. I love your word-"Snobbles". It conjures up snobby weebles in my head.

Ann, now don't laugh but I really think of you as the wise woman of these forums. I always look for your name and I have to read what you have to say.

Mandy, I think we are kindred spirits, girl. 8) We gotta keep on CRUISIN'!!!

Thanks, Ann. I sort of remember reading that last year. I will have to check on the LINGO.

Here I am thinking I wish TQS would clean out the files so crappy posts like this won't resurface...... Now I'm LMAO at the post by Katzz and loving the birth of a new word/label..... Snobbles!
I would love to see a lot of quilts being made and posted here called, Snobbles! The problem is..... I don't have a clue what such a quilt would look like. :?

Hmmm, a snobble... it would not break any quilting "rules" because of course snobbles would never break the rules. Let me think on this one because suddenly I have a portrait coming to mind

Now, now, Girls! Behave yourself! Every opinion - positive or negative is valid and important.

Please, allow me to be serious for a moment. I have been a member almost from the beginning, and enjoy a little light relief mixed with some serious quilting stuff, especially in the evenings after a long and stressful day working with special needs children.

A few weeks ago my mother died unexpectedly, and my small family is trying to cope with the emotional and the practical side of this. The Quiltshow is providing me with some much-needed distraction. I wouldn't be able to focus on a book at the moment.

I just wish all this here wouldn't be so darn inspirational. My rather whacky and fertile mind sees new quilt projects in all sections of the site. I just wish the Alex and Ricky would sort out the time problem. I would love to subscribe to the "Shows Plus Daily Extra Time' option.

hey all you gals and guys you are going to give me a big head by calling me the wise woman of the forum. I am just a silly old lady who never learned how to be real serious and enjoy having a laugh or two or more every day and hope that never changes. glad I can give some of you a laugh or two too or a little something to think about when I occasionally get serious like right now

TQS has brought me so many friends and so many opportunities to stretch my thinking and my imagination. So thanks to all of you, my new friends, for joining me in this wonderful journey. And thanks to ARJJ and its sponsors for giving us this wonderful venue to share our ideas. Ann

Oh Lorchen, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Remember, God is holding both your Mom and your family in the palm of His hand. Keep your memories of all the happy times in the front of your mind and your Mom will still make you smile.

BTW, what is the "Shows Plus Daily Extra Time" option? Have I really missed something? I thought I had scanned everything on the site  !!!

Lorchen, I, too, want to express my sympathy upon the loss of your mother. I hope you will remember all of the good times you had with her.
