    SoTTT's music

Hey Ricky, is there any chance you could help us out with a little recording gig for the SoTTT's Sorting Day music? I've re-written Dancing Queen by Abba but don't know anything about recording and up loading music :?
    the doggerel is as follows:-

My vote would be for Abba, Sorting Queen (sorry Dancing Queen) especially for Clara.
We could always try rewriting the lyrics while we wait.

Getting to host the next Hst exchange  :P

Ok here goes first entry for the lyrics challange.

    Sorting Queen.....(apologies to ABBA)

You can count, you can sort , having the time of your life.
Ooo...see that girl, watch that seam, stitchin', the Sorting Queen

Friday night and the quilts are low
Looking for some half squares to sew,
Where the colours are clashing, triangles are my thing
You can sew up a king.
    Feathered star or shoo-fly,
Stitches small and the wadding's high,
With a bit of charm fabric, a layer cake or 2
You want some squares to patch,
Seam line's are up to scratch.

You are the Sorting Queen counting thousands, past seventeen,
Sorting Queen, feel the thrum from the sewing machine oh yeah
You can sew, you can sort , having the time of you life
Ooo.. see that girl, watch that seam, stitchin' the Sorting Queen.

You're the Counter, you sort them out
Twenty-eights in piles, that's the count,
Packing up the baggies, odd ones every where,
    Boxes are ready to pack,
    Throw Postie another sack.

You are the Sorting Queen, counting thousands, past seventeen,
Sorting Queen, feel the thrum from the sewing machine oh yeah
You can sew, you can sort , having the time of you life
Ooo.. see that girl, watch that seam, stitchin' the Sorting Queen.

    Sew with the Sorting Queen

So - any other budding lyricist's who can improve on that? (pleease! )

Rosemary, that's priceless!!! I love it...... The new HST Project Hymn. I'm sure Abba would be delighted to hear it.

Way to go, Rosemary   ! Please, please, please, Ricky!!! And then we can use the recording as the background of the slide show that TQS is going to post. I'm thinking Alex needs to sign a few verses too...and maybe Edyta???

I hate to say it, but there may be the question of copyright to consider - in this case 'unfortunately'!

Ricky can just pretend he's a Karaokee  singer who doesn't know the words to the Dancing Queen song!

I don't believe the copyright comes into play here. Comedy based off things, I don't believe are a part of the copyright. Besides if Ricky did do the song, I doubt he would try and record it to cd for a profit. Just have fun with it. Think of all the movies and comedy skits based off movies, songs, speeches etc. Clara

Does anyone remember Weird Al Yankovich? master of the comedy parody song. He said that he always asks permission from the original artist before he does his parody. I imagine if we recorded it (We being the SOTT's), it would be a different matter than if Ricky did it, since Ricky is actually a musician and records and sells his work. It's a lovely fantasy, though, isn't it? Kathy

You guys are having waaaay too much fun - or is that even possible? Anyway - thanks for understanding that I could not produce the parody. It has to live in your imaginations.

We were just having fun and thought you should have some with us. What does go into producing a song? Curious. Clara

Usually - several days to weeks and a chunk of change. - It's like a quilt - you can make one in a day - but a good one takes a lot of time and energy.

Hey, once you've been in a group that put out over 200,000 HST's, life is all about fun!!!

I seem to remember a song called "Slippin' and Slidin" from years ago, that would probably apply to Debbie right now, she's probably afraid go to into her spare bedroom. I saw those pictures! 500 plastic zip lock bags all over? Woo Hoo!

Thanks for joining in our fun.
