I just picked up a treadle machine at a auction. It's a New Home and the last patent date on it is 1879. It needs a belt and a good cleaning, other than that it's not too bad. I'm looking for information about using this machine. Any good web sites you could direct me to would be appreceiated and any tips on using it would be great.

There are tons of sites but here are a few that have information on parts and history. Treadle on helped out a lot with diagrams on the shuttle, and tension.

I picked mine up at an auction. Only paid 35.00. It's in fair condition, needs cleaning, and I need to do some research on how it works (the bobbin looks like a bullet) but I'm going to have fun. Even if it I don't get it to work, it will go in my house as a conversation piece.Comment
