Shelly, I love your convergence and the "pink blotch" doesn't bother me at all. If it really bothers you, use the fabric that has the pink for your borders or design any kind of an applique that you like that includes some of the pink and put it on the convergence. The beauty and the fun of convergences are the unusual variations that show up some times when you merge different fabrics. You can just never predict what will happen.
Having done many many convergences, I can tell you honestly that I often end up with a result that I didn't really expect. Sometimes I really do not like it at first but over time it usually grows on me or I add some type of coordinating applique and the end result is always interesting and sometimes stunning.
Don't be too hard on yourself and just enjoy the process.
Hugs, Ann

I need an opinion from those of you who have made convergence quilts.
Ricky demo'd a quick, small convergence quilt at the start of a TQS episode. He makes it look so easy! Is it really that easy?
If it is, do you think I could get 5 done by mid July? (I'm an intermediate quilter.) I have worked with 5 special students for the past year. We come together as a result of a computer match process. They apply to programs, and programs choose and rank applicants, then the computer matching program does the rest. Students don't know where they will end up, and we don't know who we will get until "match day". We truly have a "convergence" of personalities. This year's mix has been especially "harmonious", so a farewell gift of a small convergence quilt would be absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, I get great ideas at the last minute. So, should I get busy? Or get realistic? Thanks!

I think you could get five convergences done by the end of July especially if they are rather small ones. The quilt behind me in my profile was cut one morning and the top finished that same day. I quilted it a few days later but work time was probably two short days.
Two summers ago I made convergence quilts for twelve of our family and friends. I used state flower prints of the states where they were born and lived along with other prints that were meaningful to the person who was the recipient of the quilt. These were all about 24 to 30 inches square. I made all the tops first and then quilted them so I wasn't changing pressure feet and threads all the time on the machine.
It can be done. Go for it and good luck. Ann

so exciting that you found great fabric. I know you can do the convergences in your time line.
I have done so many convergences for friends but my favorites were the two I donated to charity auctions. They each earned between $100 and $150 and they were only about 24 inches square. I think that was a good price and I am happy for the charities.

I watched the show and had a go at my first convergence quilt today..really thought the technique was great and addictive. I have never really quilted before so was pleased how easy it was..I have uploaded it on to my profile after answering all the questions!! To the earlier reply I think you could get 5 done by the end of July as they are quite easy to do..I am going to use more colours in the next one I do.

my son, TQS member CuriousGeorge, made one when he was 9, and it was quick for him. He's a typical quilter, hasn't quilted it yet ( ) but it was easy. I just realized it's not on his profile, I'll try to get it up tonight. You can do it, and it will be a very meaningful and special gift!

Thank you to those who encouraged me to take on the convergence project for gifts for my students. Unfortunately, it fell into that "wasn't meant to be" category.
I mastered the construction easily (I took a "chantelle" class years ago), but my first three attempts will become tote bag liners--not enough fabric contrast, so they just looked mucky. I knew I had a large piece of Ricky Tims hand dyed fabric in my stash, but it was nowhere to be found. A petition to St Anthony (patron saint of lost things) came through, and I found the fabric. Things started moving along well and I had a four day weekend scheduled.
Well, the four day weekend arrived with news that my mother, 200 miles away, was sick and probably needed hospitalization. Off I went. (She's doing fine now).
The next weekend, I'm working away, and THE POWER GOES OUT! At that point, I realized there was no way I could meet my deadline.
On a positive note, my husband was really impressed with this process and wants one for his office and wants one in the family room. A couple of friends are also intrigued, so I will have Christmas gifts ready for them. All is not lost!
One of these days I will learn to be realistic with deadlines!
Susan (it's a picture perfect day in southern Ohio)
