    Congratulations! And a question :)

Congratulations, John! Having your very own space in the Forum is a little like being given your very own executive office with secretary, coffee machine and private bathroom (and, of course an Alex Anderson quilt on the wall behind the desk). I hope you are going to throw a virtual party with chocolate cupcakes and pink champagne.

So, what sort of questions, issues, information, etc. should we post here for you?

My area will be discussing the features, plans, and ideas for the website. For instance, this new forum has some nice new tools. To be honest, I haven't been very active in this type of communication and it's all new to me. But now you can have private messages, pick friends to keep track of, and easily put up pictures. We will be doing some different types of tutorials to help all of us (including me) learn what we can do. We will also be tweaking the controls to make it do what you want.

For those of you ready to leap ahead, here is how you put up a picture on the forum itself. (You can still tie to outside places like Webshots etc.) When you are posting a reply, scroll down the page and you will see a tab that says "Upload attachment". There you choose the file and Add it. It's really easy. Currently the picture has to be smaller than 2mg but we are working on a way to have the system shrink the picture for you. I'm hoping we all start to use it and share our latest quilts, tips and techniques. Lorchen, give it a try and show us what you are working on now if you get a chance.

There is an easy way to reduce photo files that are too large. I just choose the photo from "My Pictures" and double click it. Then choose the option to open the photo in MS Paint. From there I choose "resize" and reduce the percentage numbers and save it with a name that I'll recognize as a smaller file. Something like "hydrangea in Paint". Can't help those with MACs though.....Sorry!

This is our Merritt Supreme this year! Gorgeous!!

The attachment feature only shows up if you go for the full reply mode, John. It's not availbale for 'quick reply'.... makes sense to me.

I always find learning something new really exciting. So I look forward to find out more about our 'New Forum'.

Hopefully you'll be able to see a picture of my younger son with my first little grandchild.

Patience, John! My older son and his partner are both 31 years old and have lived together for over 7 years. Their relationship has always been rock-solid and very happy. Some things just take time.

Margo, 'Uncle Andy' (29) is still available (and he does sometimes shave) ..... Giggle.....

You are funny, Lorchen! Your baby is 5 years younger than my baby, who is also still single! As long as they are happy!!
