Terri, happy second birthday!!! May you celebrate many more anniversaries healthy and full of blessings. DH and I are donors if when it's our time to go there's anything that might help someone else to stay alive.

Yay, Terri! A wonderful gift of life, and may you have many more anniversaries!

I work in a hospital, it's hard for people to talk about being a donor, I'm very grateful that some families can find the grace and generosity to give that gift.

              happy anniversary terri ...
busy advertising the need for donors - a very good friend of mine has been given the gift of an added on life with repeated kidney transplants (the first in the early 80's the last about 10 years ago). the last time she received her sister's kidney - which has allowed her to be around and raise her kids.
donating an organ you no longer need makes a difference to so many - and if we prepare, fill in the donor card and inform our families, it will help them too as they will not have to make such a decision as well.

Thank you Lotti for the gentle reminder.

Speaking of kidneys, I have known two people who have had kidney transplants with great success. The first was a lady I worked with a lot in the 70's. Her brother became her donor and when the did the operation they discovered that he had 3 kidneys! I don't know that the 3rd one was functioning but this only came to light on the operating table!! The second person was a lady my husband worked with and she had become so ill that she could barely function, and because of her age she had been pushed further down the list. Her cousin stepped up to the plate and offered a kidney and she was saved. She later told us that the specialist confided to her that she had found an absolutely perfect match in her cousin which would be impossible unless he was her brother. :!: :!:
