    FESTIVAL OF QUILTS, BIRMINGHAM 2011

    Hi

I am going on the Sunday. Will anyone else be there that day who would like to meet up?

In leafy Berkshire, south of England.

I'll be there, Pam. I'll contact you direct.

I'm at FoQ all four days. I'll be busy part of the time, but let me know if you want to meet anywhere. I'm staying at The Premier Inn, just in case anybody else picked that hotel.

One of my itsy-bitzy arty pieces is part of the "Freedom - Freiheit - Liberté" exhibit. There are just over 160 small pieces on that theme - mostly from Europe. The exhibition was juried and will travel for a couple of years. So, if you go and you like textile art, go and have a look. There are also several other very interesting exhibitions (beside the main one). SAQA is represented again. Another one worth looking at is the work by Pia Welsch, a German textile artist who always thinks a little outside the box.

I have also heard on the grapevine that Bernina will showcase their new 500 series in Birmingham. If I understand it correctly, they will stop making the 400 series and one of the 600 machines quite soon.

I looked up the web site for the Birmingham quilt show and I see that it is 11-14 August. I sure had wanted to go to that show, especially since I won't make it to Houston this year. They are saying there will be 1000 quilts. Can you see it all in one day? It looks like it is a 2 1/2 hr drive from Brandon where I found a house to rent. Though I imagine it will take me longer since I am not quite use to the driving here yet. I may see if I can get away for Saturday and Sunday. Will I be out of luck if I try to get a hotel rooom this late?

Hi there, Holiday plans have been washed out - boo-hoo!

BUT I can now make it to the FoQ probably aiming for Sunday - whey-hey!

What are the meet up plans for Sunday - presuming there are some?

So far no specific meeting plans at all, Rosemary. I'll be there on Sunday. Do you still have my mobile number? I'll be staying right to the end on Sunday because I have a quilt to collect.

Forgotten to say..... We haven't heard here from Teresita. She was planning to come and I have recognized her name in the catalogue.

I will be there on the Sunday. Lorchen, You do classes I know. Is there a standard time for lunchbreak. Otherwise I would suggest that the best place to meet might be near the Quilters Guild of Great Britain stand which is always by the entrance at 1pm. We can then always adjoin to the lobby or a seating area. Rosemary and Lorchen I will send you both my mobile number by email and would be glad to receive yours in the hope that we can meet up this year.

I was going to drive over to Birmingham on Satruday but I think I will come on Sunday instead. I would love to meet up with you all.

Woops, I have just sent you an email Lorna and then logged on and found your post. I will send you another email with my mobile number.

If anyone else is planning to be there on the Sunday we will meet just inside the entrance to the hall by the Quilters Guild of Great Britain stand at !pm. I will try and remember to wear my TQS badge.

Wish I could be there to join y'all! But, please, somebody remember a camera and have someone else take a photo of the group of you! Have fun!

Hi, I have a class on Sunday at 1:30, but will be at the Quilters Guild stand at 1pm at least for a few minutes so that I can meet you all.
I'm already in Birmingham and will be taking quite a lot of classes in the next few days, but I would love to see any of you who happens to be around before Sunday.

I'm really glad, Teresita, that you saw Pam's message. I look forward to meet you. In the meantime, have a super time, and give my best wishes to Alicia. I'm sure, from what you said before, that you are going to make a beeline for her.

I'll be at FOQ for all four days - I'll be at the BQSG table (Quilt study group table) on Saturday and Sunday. I have sent in two quilts this year. My wholecloth sawtooth quilt and the New Zealand Bell Quilt. Just checked the tracking and they did arrive, Lorchen!! phew. I am staying at St Johns Hotel in Solihull with the Quilters Haven lot.

Hope to see some of you.

Actually, I've been with Alicia for the past few days and we came together to Birmingham. I'll send her your regards.
