Jean, you'll have to let us know what the new magazine is like. I'm always curious about quilting magazine in other countries.

Yes, I know this is a very old thread, but I have subscribed to this magazine and I have to say I like it almost as much as Quilt Life! I also like the advertizing and I can check out Canadian suppliers as well as American. Plus they give a listing of all the local quilt shows which surprises me on how many there are really close to home. This one and Quilt Life are my 2 must have magazines.

Oh my -- now I know how folks in other countries feel when they want something from the U.S. The subscription for U.S. folks is $64 a year. Glad to see that Canadian quilters now have their first ever quilting magazine! Congrats.

Quilters Connection is a wonderful magazine and I really enjoy the Canadian content so I can see what the quilt industry is doing in Canada. I still enjoy the publications I read from the US as well as the Irish Qulting magazine. We truly are an international community.

I was surprised at the cost for the US but it's the shipping costs. Our postage here is outrageous! If I have to mail anything to the US I go across the border to mail it, and most of my parcels are sent by bus. The small parcel service that the US has doesn't exist here. a small parcel starts about $10.95 plus taxes.

My goodness -- I had no idea. I mailed a parcel to a friend in Canada and it was a gift. I put right on the package that it was a gift but she told me they charged her an additional fee to get it. It would be wonderful if the magazine would sell an online edition! Then there would be no shipping costs. I wonder if magazines can be read on an IPad. I don't have one yet but it would be nice if it did because then you could read it anywhere.

Jo Jo, I received a sample of Fons and Porter online magazine today. I looked at it on my iPad. Beautiful color. Personally I am not ready to go that route, yet. Which is strange because I read books on my iPad.

That happened to me once when I got a gift from the US. I complained at the Post Office when I picked it up. They said to call the Canadian Customs Service which I did. I was told to send them the label where gift was indicated and the receipt of what I had to pay and they refunded me the money. They said sometimes mistakes are made!

You should tell your friend, that there are instructions on the back of the receipt which gives the number to call to inquire. BTW, the value of the gift has to be under $60 to not be charged duty.

Just a very late update on this topic. Quilter's Connection is NOT the first quilting magazine for Canadians. There was Canada Quilts for many years and of course our own Canadian Quilter's Association has their quarterly magazine that keeps you up to date on what's happening around the country.

I just noticed that the international subscription for this magazine is over $94!
