Can't see anything wrong with saying what you have to offer, especially in a UK thread.

So, to add to the promotions: Ali is your perfect partner for all wadding and related stuff.

Selling via the internet is not easy, even though you can keep the overheads low. It can be very time-consuming to keep your business name fresh in people's mind, and you definitely have to make sure that your customer service it flawless, if you want repeat orders.

I used to be involved on the design side with an internet business in the early days (I think pre-dating Ebay!) specializing in Elizabethan Blackwork Embroidery. It folded after a few years because the lady who ran the business side lost interest. But it was a very interesting experience.

I must admit to doing probably at least 80% of all my shopping over the internet. That's everything from the weekly food shop, clothes, hobbies, plants and books up to sending the kids their Easter Eggs via Hotel Chocolat this year. ops:

Admittedly there are a few things that need to be touchy feely but another area that has improved is the returns service!! If I'm in a bit of a doubt about something I will look through a returns policy and won't buy from the company if I don't like it!!

I look for incentives quite a bit too, points and freebies. I don't actually like real world shopping but I love the fact that just about anything is available in my study! just wish there was one place where I could find everything in one hit.

Do you use a cashback website like Quidco Amo? I've just recently discovered it and have already notched up about £20. Not bad for doing nothing more than going to my favourite website via another one.

I haven't heard of Quidco Ali. I do as much as I can through Nectar though and it at least covers my yearly subscription to six magazines.

I've been upstairs thinking about my way of shopping for bits for quilting (which has been vast as I'm just starting up again!!!). I go to one first because I get a free stash pack and if they haven't got what I need the next one I choose has a percentage discount so it's not always money related! I think I like the stash pack the best because it's like a surprise that I've had nothing to do with and it can make me think about colours and patterns I wouldn't normally buy!!

There's nothing like a little extra pressie coming through the letterbox to warm a girls heart - who is it that does this?

It's Tabbycat, link in first post. You have to spend £50 but how hard is that??!!?? And your shopping basket saves itself so you can go back a few times until you've made the quota.

You getting ideas here Ali?

Just remembered someone else I buy from, I LOVE the fabrics Antique Angel (http://www.antiqueangel.co.uk) sell, they import themselves and have quite a unique range. Their customer service is also excellent.

And Quilters Haven http://www.quilters-haven.co.uk/ not far from Ipswich. Should really be 'heaven' because it certainly is in there! Looks like a narrow little shop in a sleepy village but it goes so far back, you're almost in the next county by the time you've finished!

And for all your ribbon needs:

                          http://www.fantasticribbons.co.uk/acatalog/index.html

Prices are very good, and the two guys who own the company are very nice, so you get excellent customer service.

Hi, all you from the UK. I found out today that this shop
                            http://www.barnyarns.co.uk
sells Superior Thread and I have sent them a question about them offering the thread clubs for people in Europe.
Maybe some of you will ask them too, so they can see it is needed.

Excellent idea, Norma! I never thought of that, and I'm in the UK and sometimes order from Barnyarns.
