Nancy, please keep an eye on the forum for any upcoming exchanges! It sounds like you may have volunteered to sort!

Also...are you aware that the deadline for the SOS book has been extended???

Good Afternoon Everyone. I am waiting for my flight back home from Houston and had a little time to send a note. It sounds like a number of you are working really hard to get your HST exchange and Strip Exchange projects done. Well, I have some very good news for those of you that are afraid that you may not make the Jan. 1, 2012 deadline. IT HAS BEEN EXTENDED. Yes, that is correct. The deadline has been adjusted and the new revised date in May 1, 2012. So relax and take a deep breath. You will get them finished and you can still have them included in the S.O.S. HST/Strippers Keepsake book/DVD.

There were be an official announcement coming shortly on the Daily Blog and in the newsletter.

I love the spools idea. In fact, I'm designing a sampler of the spools, flowers, etc. from the 2 books I purchased of Edyta with my strips from the strip exchange.
But the spools quilt would require way less strips than the 615 HST I used & added to to enlarge my Medallion quilt. Anyway, I could be wrong but guessing 200
strips could easily make a big spools quilt.

I just checked my book, Edyta's spools quilt seems to call for 40 strips. Definitely doable!

I'd love another exchange and the spools idea is terrific! Also would help in any way I can (other than being "in charge")....

Happy Thanksgiving to all the sisters and brothers in TQS land.

I would love to participate in another exchange and I love the idea of the spools exchange! Count me in on whatever anyone decides to do. I'll be happy to offer any insight I have gained from the SoTTTs and I'm sure Barb and Ritzy would do the same. My biggest suggestions are to limit the number of participants to something that is workable and to have everyone submit the same number of HST's, spools, whatever. It is way too difficult to redistribute when you have packages varying from 28 to over 900! There were definitely lessons learned with SoTTTs, Strippers and the Batiks exchange and that should make it easier for members who want to organize other exchanges.

I still have my HST quilt to finish and I'm sooooo glad that Carol extended the book deadline to May 1, but I'm ready whenever a new leader takes the reins.

                Good Morning,
I think the spool exchange sounds like a great idea ---- Count me in. If it is within my area, I would be more than happy to help. I enjoyed the HST exchange and the Batik Strip exchange. I'm not much of a blogger, but I do enjoy frequently checking in to read what is going on.
                Happy Sewing,

I, too, would love to get into the cotton reel (spool) block swap but I don't check The Forum often and will probably miss the sign-up. Is there a way to flag a Post on a 2012 block swap and have it sent to my email address? (That's IF I were lucky enough to get into the limited exchange group  )

I'm interested in another exchange and am willing to help from a distance, unless someone close to Iowa volunteers for the job. Shirley 35 from Iowa.

This is getting me excited - and I'd better hurry up with the quilting of my present HST projects! Also, I began an HST exchange in our guild, so ---many, many projects going on! Yikes! So, just to say I hope the next exchange will be something different than HSTs.

Thanks to Margo and all her great suggestions for the HST exchange I will soon begin binding my quilt. She suggested I check out Ricky's Grand Finale DVD for the piped machine applied binding and I think that is what I will select. Also I had such a great time getting to know so many quilters from around the world that I definitely would like to participate in another exchange. I will definitely keep watching to see what develops in 2012. New Year!

For all those of you who are waiting I have now opened a new (& limited numbers) exchange for anyone who would like to join in making a reel/spool quilt called Wot RoTT - Winding on the Reels of Tangled threads

                            A short introduction -

Firstly, I have always called them cotton reels, rather than cotton spools and I intend to stay that way so I know what I am talking about.

Secondly, what I loved about the BatiksRUS & SoTTTs was that I had a little piece of someone else’s sewing as a keepsake.

Thirdly, I loved the idea of having a quilt full of cotton reels.

so if any one cares to join the exchange, or just turn up to gossip head on over to the Wot RoTT exchange

Another HST exchange would be fun - but I would suggest that the number of hst be limited. Basically, no matter how many people participate we all send in 112(4 of Edita's sheets, or any agreed upon amount)- and all in the same fabric. It seems like it would be a lot easier to sort. Or we all send in one for every person participating. I would be willing to assist in organizing it if anyone else from the Chicago area also wants to help. Maybe a different size this time?

Kari, I know that there are a few people out there who would be interested in another HST exchange. I had suggested that it not be until after the SOS book deadline for the current HSTs (which is in May). I had also showed interest in organizing the exchange, but have had a change of heart! I really want to focus on making quilts, not doing spreadsheets, visiting the post office, etc! You seem very capable of organizing the next exchange, and surely the Chicago area should have a few TQS volunteers. I say go for it, and good luck! Maybe put out feelers, and have a deadline that allows those who are still frantically working on their HST quilt for the SOS book, to complete it and still participate in the new exchange. These are just suggestions. So far the response on the spool quilt has been slow and quite manageable. Like I said, many members are still working on their last HST quilt, and others are jumping into the new BOM. Just things to think about.
