    Welsh Quilting

Rosemary, in an earlier post of yours you mentioned Welsh quilting and gave us the web site to check out. And I did and I decided I wanted to know more. I am currently taking a paper piecing quilting class in Tallahassee and happened to mention that I'd just learned of the style of Welsh quilting during class. Unbelievably, our class instructor is from Wales. She is from Aberdare and the Jen Jones museum is in Lampeter, north of her home. She brought in several of her antique quilts with wool wadding that were just spectacular. Beautiful, beautiful quilt designs and workmanship. A book she brought of hers is Making Welsh Quilts by Mary Jenkins and Clare Claridge. And I think a new class on Welsh quilting is being born!! It is such a small world. Thank you for introducing us to a whole new technique of this wonderful passion of ours! It's just another reason why I enjoy The Quilt Show so very much.

    NanaPie,
I can't find the original post. Can you link to it? I've been fascinated by Welsh quilting ever since I saw one online years ago. Not that I'd ever make one  but I love reading about them.

you know what - that search function thingy at the top of the forums can be really helpful sometimes

Nanapie, I'm glad you found the links interesting and also that you might now have the chances of some classes. So often we pass along information that we think is interesting, but rarely do we hear if grows into anything further, and it is a pleasure to hear about when it does.

I've ordered the book I mentioned from Amazon and intend to use Welsh designs for quilting my HST exchange quilt. Truly an international quilt in all respects!! Again, thank you, Rosemary, for opening up my rural south Georgia world even further!
