I have a few questions for Carol/Margo:
1) I have taken pics with my digital SLR with it set at the best settings (Jpeg set at 10M best quality). After cropping and fixing the picture in PS Elements, I saved it as a Jpeg at the best setting Elements would let me. The picture is approx 2 MB...it's dimensions are 1843 x 1836 whatever that means. LOL I had hoped it would be much larger (in the 4-8MB range requested). But I don't know how to get it up there. Any ideas? Or will that size pic be okay?
2) Can we also submit closeups? Mine is not quilted, so it would just be a closeup of the piecing.
3) I will write up my info for the prototype. Can we change/edit that when it's time to submit the finished quilt pictures? I might want to add info about the quilting at that time...
3) How will these pictures be presented at Houston? On a laptop slideshow? Or printed out in a notebook type of format? I ask because if they will be printed out, there will be a cost involved for paper and ink and sheet protectors. I'd be happy contribute to help cover those costs. Perhaps if it will be printed, everyone who submits for the prototype can send $5 or $10 or whatever. Please let me know, and an address, and I'll get that to you, Carol.
Here's my picture so you can see how it looks, at least small on the screen:

UPDATE!! More information directly from Carol!!
1) If you are having problems with your pictures and the software that you are using to crop and fix them don't worry. If you want you can just send them to me in the original form and I will get them all nice and pretty.
2) By all means send close ups. If there is something special you would like to share with others that is great!!!! We can all learn from each other. Again this project is about sharing and inspiring each other.
3) Yes, you can make changes and edit things for the final version. Just make sure you indicate when you send in your final copy you let me know you would like to replace your story.
4) There will be a couple of copies to view at IQF in paper format. They will be just samples and not for purchase at this time. The cost will be minimal. The thought is very nicely appreciated but the paper so far is not that expensive and for these samples I will be using my home computer and printer. Now when we do the final version, it will be done professionally by a publisher and they will use there fancy equipment. That is why there will be a minimal cost to purchase a copy of the SOS Exchange book, only to cover expenses for materials and printing fees. There will be a Smilebox created with what has been submitted for the sample/prototype for non-attendees to IQF. It can been seen via The Quilt Show. I will send the Smilebox file to TQS and they will post in in the Newsletter and in the Daily Blog when it is ready to be shared. That will occur about Nov. 1st or shortly after when the TQS staff have time to post it on the site.
I hope that answers most of the questions. I have been getting lots of very wonderful stuff. If you are close, don't worry that you missed the deadline for the prototype. I won't be able to work on this until after Sept 6th so you can still send me what you have and it will be in the sample book. I am busy with getting Month-End stuff done at the clinic and this week is payroll. I love the independence of owning our own business but some times there are just not enough hours in the day to get everything done. LOL!!!!

Thanks for the info, Margo and Carol. A wee bit of breathing room...whew and double whew! I've been babysitting my grandsons 5 and 3 for the past three days and haven't been able to do anything on the last borders of my top. Now, I think I can make the sample book deadline, but even if not, thanks that we can still make the final project! I need a bubble bath and a nap...How did I ever keep up with 4 of my own?

When my children (only 2 of them) were small and I visited my parents, Mother always said that "God knew what he was doing when he gave babies to young people!"
She had also raised 4, but the grandchildren always wore her out!
