no sewing yet - but definitely playing
so far i've sorted the HSTs into colour groups
and have layed out the greens, the yellows and a few strays
all the blues, reds, purples, etc. still to come....
yes - this picture is a cheat ops:
the top half is what i've done so far
i just duplicated the picture (made it lighter to show that it is the cheat) and set it under the proper half to get an idea of what i'm doing....

with the other colour ranges this will obviously change quite a bit - and be bigger as i've only used about a third of the HSTs so far
 think i've decided to continue from here

Oh, yeah! Love it, Lotti. My favorite part of another great layout.
Can't believe the versatility of a 2 in. square made from 2 triangles!

thank you - i should be doing so many other things
but... babies don't really need playquilts during the first couple of months of their lives, do they?
so i've continued to play with the HST's - not yet the final version - but very close to it - i think

it's now going to stand in my living/sewin room, while i do other things - i'll be moving things around quite a bit i think before i start sewing ?sometime soon?
but been good - actually made a whole butterfly for one of the two expected babies... now for the kittens
well - wait till the sun gets hidden behind those buildings - too nice to go inside

This is my idea so far. The inspiration came from this website
                http://www.redpepperquilts.com/2011/...les-quilt.html

I am not sure if it works - the centre should be trimmed a bit and I need to put some red into a border. I am thinking of a red border with a waving (undulating) flying geese. But the more I look at it the more I am not sure. Any thoughts?

                    wow - what an impact
i think the red waving geese could be really really good - i'm not sure if they will be strong enough in relation to the red inner border though - the one little windmill doesn't really show how much power it could have...
                    love it :P :P :P

Nan I recently discovered this wonderful blog too. Look at her flying geese quilt posted today. Fabulous. I think what you are doing is really interesting.
I'd like to see that undulating border with just a small repeat of red. I'm thinking of puttiing an undulating border on my medallion quilt. But I haven't
started it yet so don't know if it will work like I imagine it. But anyway, this is wonderful what you've got here.

WOW! Thank you for that idea. How clever to be able to do that!
I made that little windmill to try it within the HST's but I would have to take more care in the making if I choose this border, but it is certainly something I hadn't thought about. Thanks Lotti.

Or maybe just add a wide border with the red? It could be an area for some fabulous quilting or maybe some applique?

I like the bold solid red border because is as strong as the as the center design. I like how it balances with the center. Lois Bruno
