   OMG! You, guys...this is going to be such fun and sewwwwww cool! 8) 8) 8) My Canadian and Swiss SoTTT sisters' comments have been noted! I'm not sure I can get all of this in one quilt, but I'm up to the task of 18"-24" individual blocks. JoSew you got me thinking about making a separate quilt maybe 36"-48" that would be my American playground composite of USA Sue's with Ricky in there too! I'm still in the OMG! planning stages of how to put all of this together, but I'm up to the challenge. It might even be fun to do each country as a series of individual blocks and connect them all together somehow. One thing is for sure I will incorporate as many of your wonderful ideas as I possibly can!! And that's a promise!   This is definitely going to be an on-going whole project for at least 1-2 years!   and 8) 8) 8) ! I'm lovin' this -- and it's the kind of project I want to enter into the IQF's Houston show! Thanx for all of your help and suggestions so far!

JoSew, if I can finally get my signature up and printing...so can you. Follow Margo's instructions exactly. I went thru each step of my printed instructions methodically. It took me 3 times, but I got it, and it's worth the time to do it. Good luck this weekend!

The two hardest things about setting up a signature are
          1. deciding on the font.
          2. deciding on the colour.
Ok 3 things - waiting for each page to load, and then 'it' getting lost in the process :?

apart from that I just followed the instructions and found it a doddle just make sure you look at the whole page before you hit 'next'.

Here is some suggestions for Finnish Sue:
            - Almost every area in Finland have regional dress. Their designs are based on actual peasant wardrobe from 18th and 19th century. Nowadays regional dresses are not very popular, not among younger anyway. If one decides to buy or make regional dress, one don't have to choose the dress of her/his own area, but I think many do. I don't have regional dress, but as a child I had the one my mother sewed for me. Here is link to picture of similar dress:

As you see, woman has kind of "bonnet" on her head. There is wide bobbin lace on the bonnet.
            - The flag is blue cross on white background.
            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finland
            - On Viking Age Finns were famous of their witchcraft. Viking could buy some spells from Finnish witch. Witch would give him knotted rope. Then on the sea, if there was no wind, they could open a knot and it would give nice good wind for them to sail. They should not open too many knots, or there would be a storm. I do not have link to that, because, you know, these things are so old they are a bit hard to find on Internet Age  !

            Hope that helps on designing!

I just came across a book you might like. It's called International Sunbonnet Sue by Debra Kimball, MD. Here's a link to the book at Connecting Threads.com

Ok here is my first sketch idea based on my photo
it shows a 1640s(ish) silhouette making one of the hats, with the other hat on the floor, with 4 envelopes to show that 4 other ladies helped with hst's, 2 of the envelopes have saltires on them to indicate Scotland, but I got the colours totally the wrong way around ops: , it should be a white saltire (diagonal cross) on a blue background, rather than as I've shown it. I also forgot to lift up the overskirt to show the underskirt, which could be made of hsts. You might want to place the hat and envelopes on a table.
By the way DD helped with colouring in the hat.

Thank you, Rosemary, for taking the time to share your sketch of your Sunbonnet Sue. I appreciate your help. I really like your early idea of making her underskirt out of little HST's too!
