Okay - who knew that catching up on Chapter 3 would take me three!!! hours? I have been up to date on Chapter 2, but didn't think to start keeping up w/the new one. "My bad" as the kids would say. I am having almost as much fun reading about the joy as each of you receive your packages as I expect to have when mine comes in. I was also one of the sorters last week and you WOULD NOT BELIEVE how those triangles kept multiplying! Just as you thought you were coming to the bottom of one of the mixing tubs, someone would come by while your back was turned and the darn thing would be full, AGAIN! :? But the people were great and I made some new friends, and there was plenty of chocolate. :P

I really think I am going to have to take the dogs out front to play tomorrow so I can have an excuse to watch for the mail to arrive. Jackie, waiting (not so) patiently in Texas

      Teric,
I LOVE the way you have your HSTs laid out on your design wall! Whether you change them around or use them as-is, I'm sure you'll have a gorgeous quilt!

Here's a quick update about the remaining packages. My DH and I worked ALL weekend getting what remained of the HSTs counted, stacked & packaged. As of now, the only packages that need to be sealed are some that still need Golden Tickets. We had enough for everyone to get one package of GTs, but turned out we came up about 20 short. Maybe some of you got two packages??? I had plenty left from Alex, Ricky & Margo, but had to ask Edyta if she would send more. I hope those come in today's mail and then everything can be finished and ready to mail.

I will be taking them in groups to the P.O. to mail. I don't have a car or dolly large enough to haul them to the P.O. and then get them inside.

If it turns out that postage is short on any package and it is a significant amount, I won't be able to mail that package until I receive the additional postage. Also, several members send the small cardboard flat rate envelopes to return 700  ...well, that sure didn't work well. Those cardboard envelopes looked like stuffed pigs and were literally bursting at the seams!!! Rather than taking chances on your HSTs getting lost, I had to make a new larger Tyvek priority envelope & I cut the postage off the original ones. Hopefully the P.O. will let me use that same postage since it hadn't been cancelled. Some of you may be getting emails from me to request additional postage or $ before the package can be returned. Fortunately there were only about five of those that didn't fit. All of the other envelopes were sufficient sizes.

Clara is working all the International packages and because she needed more HSTs, she won't be able to get them all out until those get to her. She will be able to provide Forum updates for those packages.

Clara said she only had one or two that were short a few cents with those she mailed last week, but the majority of those were smaller quantity envelopes and didn't have to be redone.

We cut it very close on having enough HTS, which is unusual because we had a large bag of extras that many of you had included in your packages. Clara's package & mine were left until last and we both came up a little short.

Once again, if you received too few, we apologize. And if you received too many, maybe you'd consider sharing with other members who were very short. When dealing with almost 225,000 HSTs and 560 packages, there's is absolutely no way that each will be perfect. It was very easy to lose count during the sorting process, as those thirty helpers that were there can attest to, but we all did our very best to be as accurate as possible, but stuff happens.

Please do not send an email asking if your package has been mailed yet. The packages Iready to mali are already bagged up in trash bags, in no particular order, and I have no way of knowing what will or not be mailed on what day.

OK Debbie, I'm sending more triangles to you so that you will have as many as the rest of us. I can't stand the thought of you and Clara, after all the work you've done, being cheated by not having enough. Y'all are the best!

Debbie, you are just so FABULOUS - as are Clara, your hubby and all your other helpers

We can only say a SUPER HUGE THANK YOU for all the time, efforts, energy, sweat, tears (hopefully mostly tears of joy and very very very few of frustration) and soul you have put into this.

We are ever so grateful to you and truly do appreciate it all - and will think of you with thank you's, smiles, joy, prayers and general good feelings going your way wenever we look at any of our wonderful HSTs, when we work with these, when we touch and snuggle into our fabulous quilts made of these - and whenever anyone ever mentions anything to do with HSTs ever again...

            THANK YOU :P

well, Nancy's reaction was my reaction too, but I'm thinking if everyone sent their extras BACK to Clara & Debbie, they'll be innundated again. Right now I have too many personal things going on to try to undertake this, but perhaps someone else could step up to the plate & offer to coordinate getting the extras to those folks who might be short...just keeping count of who got extras, who was short, & pairing them up, so they don't have to all go to one place & be redistributed. For example, I got 26 extras and could send them to someone who was short about that many, or split them to two folks. I'm not talking about being 2 or 3 over/under, I think we all understand the complexity of the sort & aren't ones to quibble. (at least all the extras are already sorted !!

Debbie, I had about 20 packages that ranged from 5 cents to 80 cents under the postage amount needed. There were 3 that had a lot more than that. (I'll be talking to them personally to help with that) I did send that big batch out anyway. There are about 12 more of the us packages at my place and they will go out hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday. Today I will be working on packaging up the internationals and getting them ready.

Florence - perhaps you should start a new thread especially for the over/under counts so that folks will be able to arrange privately to even out the discrepencies where they want to. My guess is that all those hsts liked being together and didn't want to split up

Great suggestion...I like the idea of a new thread for 'wayward' or 'adoptable' HST's, Rosemay. Neither Clara nor I want to receive any back that need to be redistributed, so SoTTT's members, you can go this amongst yourselves if that works for you.

Let's not get this thread innundated with members who didn't get enough or want to offer more to other members. This Chapter 3 Forum one needs to be reserved for posting pictures, sharing ideas, etc.

If anyone wants to start the new thread, please go for it!

Florence, thanks for your honesty in letting us know you received so many extras!

It shouldn't be necessary for someone to start keeping count of who did & who didn't. As Rosemary suggested, someone could start a new Forum topic so people can post if they received too many or too few. Then they can communicate with others who are in the same boat.

Once again, if someone wants to start a new topic for 'wayward and adoptable' HSTs, please feel free to do it.

I haven't received my package yet, but expect to get back lots of extras as I sent 700. Would be happy to share. Hope someone has the time to take this on. Am so enjoying all the happiness as those who have received their HSTs are enjoying seeing each one. I was in another swap with my local guild and received 700 so will be making a very large quilt or maybe a few smaller ones with over 1200 HSTs. Was also in the Batiks R Us swap and am making myself wait to start that one until I have the 7 projects I am currently doing finished. What was I thinking to have so many going at one time?

WHOOOORAAAAY!!!!!!!  I got my HST's yesterday. Well actually they came on 4-16 (Sat.) I was in Ojai with friends for the weekend w/ family and i got back Sunday and they were in my mailbox. The best part is that 4-16 was my birthday!!!!  Thank you so very much for such a wonderful birthday present!!!!! I had so much fun going through and seeing where they all came from!!!

I loved the idea of scanning the papers w/ a snipit of the fabric and putting them on a label on the back.

Thank you again Clara & Debbie and all the other helpers for the sorting and shipping. I was such a treat to get these beautiful little HST's in the mail. Now to put them into a quilt. . .

Oh ladies, I think starting a new Forum topic for those that want to try and share extra HSTs is wonderful, but I assure you that on my post about being sure Clara and Debbie had enough, I never intended that either one of them should try to reunite any of the triangles with anyone. They have certainly done enough.

I just picked up on the fact that both of our leaders are going to be a little short and I don't like that idea. If you're willing to make a few extra triangles for Debbie and Clara, please get in touch with me personally by e-mail and I'll coordinate this effort. I have both of their addresses and will send them a surprise package - just like we're going to be getting. Even just a few from right many ladies will make a nice gift!! Any takers?

                              E-mail me and we'll talk!
