I love your kind of humor...you are one talented woman! I can't wait to open my "special" package of HST's and begin my quilt! To quote Bob Hope..."Thanks for the memories!"

Looks like you've just nominated yourself a song to re-write - 'Quilts for the memories!'

      Impressive!
NY, NY to London, England - 3471 miles
NY, NY to Munich, Germany - 4042 miles
NY, NY to Nairobi, Kenya - 7360 miles
NY, NY to Manilla, Philippines - 8509 miles
NY, NY to Sydney, Australia - 9935 miles

This is truly a global project. Cool! Clara
Nevermind. Had a blonde moment. I thought it said 8234 miles not 8 point 238 miles. I knew this project was getting really big in my head, but wow. Clara
Okay, this blond had that same moment!!!!! ops: When I read the second post, I went back to the first and checked it better! But hey, if you add up all of the miles that all of the HSTs have traveled, maybe they will make it to the moon and back! (I am NOT a mathematition, so I will leave it up to those who like to play with numbers, to figure THAT out.) Besides we don't have all of data to even go there! We really are having way too much fun with this exchange!

Drawing I can do. Quilting I can do. Being a Mommy I can do. Train a horse I can do. So many other things I can do.

Singing I can't do and YOU DON'T WANT ME TOO EITHER. Scary. Clara
In my family we warn about not doing something in case it 'scares the horses', I guess this could be the case in your house :P

Actually if it scares the horses, we do it more often to get them accustomed to it. Clara

WOW - putting numbers to this really makes it overwhelming.

I calculated the strip exchange in yards and then bolts - I'll add them up end to end and see how far we can go :!: :!:

Actually, I have slipped on a ziplock bag full of quilt blocks. I ended up at the bottom of the stairs with a broken ankle. That was in 1999. Still haven't finished that quilt. I think the blocks have been punished long enough - I just don't know where they are!

or perhaps you should record a little chorus during SoTTTsSD lunchbreak for the rest of us

THIS IS IT...DEADLINE DAY!!! I'm still waiting on a few more packages to get through the sometimes sluggish mail service, both here and abroad, but since I know they're on their way, I should be able to wait for them...at least until sorting day.

Sorting Day did have to be scheduled in advance in order to reserve the church activity hall and let our sorter's know so they could 'save the date'. But we're still not telling when :P !

I will keep updating the Forum as numbers increase and interesting information arises that we want to share with you, so please be sure to check back on a regular basis. I know Clara will be posting updates along the way too.

Many, many thanks to all of you who have participated in this unprecedented event. There are some absolutely beautiful HSTs to be redistributed and I don't think anyone willl be disappointed with their 'Christmas in April' packages.

Thanks also to those who sent wonderful surprises for Clara, me and our helpers and we are especially grateful for the cash & checks to help us with food & supply expenses. Since we didn't anticipate such a large turnout, we thought this was something that could have been easily  done in my home without too much help....haha  ...that idea sure fell through the cracks pretty quickly!

Now that we are having to used a church hall, recruit and 'feed & water' 20-30 volunteers that day, it has definitely become a lot more than we ever anticipated.

Another big shout out of thanks to all of you who generously shared some of your HSTs for donations to Queensland, Norway and New Zealand. The monetary donations that were sent will also go toward postage to get those to their new homes across the water!

I think all of those sorters should get together and sing it.
