Now that the wild weather has gone for the moment, I was able to get my papers, bags, mailing supplies and print out my little labels for the triangles.I finally settled on 588, but that may change by the time I get done. My plan is to get them sewn and mailed before the next snow/ice storm is due to roll through on tuesday or Wednesday.

Looking ahead though, I realized something. The "legs" of these triangles are on the bias, and I tend to shy away from sewing bias's. Any of you more experienced and talented quilters out there have any ideas on how to work with those? Should I spray starch before sewing?
I've saved out a few of my own from each batch, and I gotta say, the scrappy look is wonderful!!! I'm so excited to see what you all have done -- I really don't think there can be any 'wrong' choices with this :-)
Bias seams with this technique are really not a problem! Have fun!

I,m having fun with all of this, it's so accurate, I have finished 336 so far the writing on the back took almost longer than the stitching etc. I wrote out 228 by hand and dear Hubby seen I was getting writers cramp so he got onto publisher and did some name tags for me and then helped me to stick them on with a small amount of glue it dried fine, I am so thankful, so for the rest now I won't have to write, how great is that? I am also doing the batic exchange so that makes it even better, he didn't know his way around publisher, so he says if he can do it anyone can have fun, can't wait to post them. :lol:ops:

SoTTT's Members --
I received an email from Hanne (BrinkOfNorway) that she will not be able to participate in our exchange because her apartment was flooded.  I don't know if it was a natural disaster that caused the flooding or something manmade, like those pesky plumbing pipes.
I think Hanne may have been our only member from Norway, but I'm not sure. Clara...please correct me if I'm wrong about that!
  What do you say to sending one or two extra HST's for Hanne so she'll still be part of our Sisterhood/Brotherhood? We'll make sure that the HST's get to her along with everyone else's.
If you'd like to include HST's for Hanne, be sure you mark clearly what HST's are for her. If you've already mailed your HTS's and want Hanne to have one of yours too, you can put them in an envelope and send them to my P.O. Box. And don't forgot to add your city/state/country and your name (optional), so she'll know where they came from.
SoTTT's ROCK!!!

I'm on board too for sending SoTTT's to Hanne-Grete from Norway! Planned to make up a set of my S0TTT's later to add to my quilt, but now I will do 2 sets at the same time! I have already mailed my 616 so these additional ones will be sent later. So sorry to hear of her apartment flooding!

Thanks, Shirley and to everyone else who will be doing this.
Consider writing a note to Hanne and add to your bag of HST's for her! I'm sure this is it's going to make herand be
.

I always use some brand of papers and I don't get any distortions. Although, I do have to admit that when pre-pressing my fabric I do use sizing out of habit.

[quote="Manuela"]Sewbearnuts - I'm also in Canada. I ordered the papers on Jan 26 and I have not received them yet. I tried the free file from quiltingandwhatnot.ca but it does not print properly (the triangle sides are either slightly shorter or slightly longer). Then my husband drafted the page of triangles for me in Autocad but it still prints the same, which basically means that my printer has issues. Today I tried a few stores in the area looking for triangles on a roll thinking that those would be the closest to Edyta's papers - no luck; most stores do not carry them here and the only one that had them was out of the 2" size. So, I have no choice but to wait for Edyta's papers. I have to admit though that I'm getting a little envious of everyone else's fun while working on their HSTs. I can't wait to get going too.
Hi Manuela - I see you're in Guelph (my alma mater univ!) - I'm near Ottawa! I ordered my "papers" around the same time - but found some old "drawing-type" paper today while searching about ( a lot like newsprint - tears very easy and works great for the sewing!) - and have managed (after some trial & error!) on the computer to successfully print out my my 2"hst paper to perfect scale and with my name and location on each one - saves having to write all those out or do labels - yayy!
So I can now review Edyta's technique and start sewing my hst's - still plan to use her papers also for more hst's to supplement this "friendship quilt" - whatever design I decide - one can't have enough hst's now can one!!
