Sherry, I strongly advise pre-washing batiks! I was told they went through so many processes and washes that it wasn't necessary, but they still bleed excess dye into a the water. I hand wash (or let soak for a while in a large bowl or the sink) in hot water and a little soap, just to make be sure I get all of the excess dye out. Then rinse until the water becomes clear, and iron it dry. I first cut my fabric into manageable sizes, like a fat quarter or half yard. Test a small piece of one of your med/dark fabrics in a bowl of hot water. Let it stay there a while. You will see what I'm talking about!

I agree, Jan - I have found batiks bleed more than most, too. I'll feel better if I prewash.

I'd be interested in a Civil War production exchange of HSTs, strips, or whatever the majority wants. Thanks and blessings on your day!!

              Greeting from Texas,

I want to join in the batik exchange. Where can I get the HST papers? I am also interested in a STRIPS exchange.

As of Jan. 29th we are at 38 who want to be in our small exchange of batiks.

Names for our group that have been suggested are:
                Unique Batiks
                Batiks Anonymous Triangulators (BATS)
                Batiks on the Go

If you have not received my snail mail address it is because I have not received an email from you. I know I can go through TQS site to find you all but it will be easier if you email me--I will have your address handy to let you know I have received your squares and I will not have to put my address out there for everyone.

kmouse, Mona80, MaterialChick, May23, jcpittsqquilts, DixieH, and Hulagirl--please send me an email.

We have members from Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and 19 states from the USA(even one from Alaska!).

I am excited about this exchange; I hope you are too. We are small but mighty.

Order your HST foundation papers here: http://www.laundrybasketquilts.com/Shop/shopindex.htm

Be sure to get the ones that finish as 2" HSTs.

Ok--another name for us? Batiks-R-Us. Eventually, we will have to vote. If I don't get any help I will just pick one. Thanks Margo--I should have known you would have my back on info on the site.

Batiks-R-Us is clearly the right name, at the top of my list right now.

It looks like Batiks-R-Us may be the winner. Great choice, Margo.

I quite fancy being a 'Bat' as well as a 'Sottt'

I am in and will be sending 2 sheets (56). I have a very limited supply of batiks in my stash so will be exciting to find out the variety of batik fabrics available.
