Bring on the guys. Would love to have some male quilters join us.

I'm planning on turning in all batiks. There are a few that are concerned if they are going to get batiks back. The more of us turn in batiks the more HST that will be available for sorting and sending back. You might get some prints too. If you don't want to use the prints for this project, hang on to them, they might be perfect for another. There are a lot of prints that register to the eye similar to batiks as well. I'm looking forward to the surprise, and will use a lot of handdyed fabrics to help anchor everything together for me.

I would love to be part of the exchange. Batik HST's are the best when you have lots of variety. I love it.

Nancy made a great suggestion to use address labels to more clearly mark your Zip-loc bags. That's a wonderful idea, especially if you are penmanship challenged. Just remember that we'll need to be able to read it so we can get it back to you. Ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated since this is a learning curve for all of us and there are probably going to be quite a few bumps in the road before all is said and done. Thanks, Nancy!

Those adddess labels come in really handy! I bring some with me to every class and workshop I go to!
Can't wait to get started on this project!

I would love to be part of this exchange. Living so far north in Canada the post is very slow. My LQS is ordering papers but it will take a long time to come in. I have Brenda Henning's CD to print HST, will that work? I have used Triangulations before and it works wonderfully. I will keep watching for more info. Joan

It looks like there are some comments about which fabrics are acceptable that may need to be clarified.

In the grand scheme of things, the VALUE & QUALITY of the fabrics is more more important than if it is a genuine batik, or if it HAS to be a batik AND a print, etc. The HST's can be a combination of batiks, a combination of batiks and prints...Or only batiks...Or only prints...and it's perfectly fine to include solids or tone-on-tones. They just need to be good quilt shop quality fabrics!

Because this exchange is using a mix of fabrics and because there are so many participants, we will not be able to respond to requests to send back ONLY batiks...Or only certain colors. They will be distributed evenly and not by color or fabric type. The only guarantee will be that you will receive as many as you sent.

As Clara suggested in her earlier post today, the more that turn in batiks, the more batik HSTs there will be for sorting and sending backs, most more assuredly, you will get some prints too. But if you don't want to use the prints for this project, hang onto them and they might be perfect for another project.

When our Guild did the exchange with Edyta last spring, she sent us HST's that were a mix of batiks and prints and they are all incredibly beautiful as were the HST's from others who did the exchange. And many of Edyta's own projects are done with a mix and you can see by her quilts displayed on TQS that they are all equally wonderfull. Because there are so many gorgeous fabrics available, how could you go wrong with any of them!

I would love to participate and I have already ordered my paper from Edyta. I would like to do 15 sheets (420). I hope that won't be too many.
