Amen to that! (chocolates, FQ's, extra HST's, etc., etc!)
I understand about the "one from each contributor" idea, which would be very great.
But that only works if we all send in 615 HST's.
What about the sisters/brothers who send less?
I hope the math gods are listening & will send a message. lol
It's time for me to lie down now!

Good luck with the sorting. You are so great to take this upon yourselves. Thanks to you all who are helping. I am so excited to see what sort of material I will be getting from across the world or even just from other states and locations. Thanks Edyta for inspiring us all. Just ordered my HST's. can't wait to get started.....

Great to hear that you've already received them. Fast delivery on Edyta's part and good International mail service!

Originally posted by mistokesHi, I'm getting ready to sew my HST. Just one question. Should all the triangles i sew be the same two fabrics? I plan on making over 100 HST's.
Mildred from Manalapan, NJ
Mildred, they definitely do not all have to be the same two fabrics as long as each triangle as one light and one medium/dark fabric. If you have smaller pieces in your stash that will work, feel free to use them.

Here is more numbers on the countries involved. 66 Quilters joining us from USA, Canada (22), UK (6), Ireland (1), Scotland (1), Finland (1), Norway (1), the Netherlands (2), Australia (27), Panama (1), South Korea (1), New Zealand (1), Germany (1) and now Switzerland (1).
The numbers for the all the countries do not add up. If you add up the numbers of the quilters from each country is adds to only 132. Am I missing a number here. Possibly the number of the USA quilters is wrong.
It's not just 66 from the US...that was my typo and I have corrected it in the post.

I am wondering if it might be possible to combine parcels here in the UK to reduce the cost to/from USA?

I'm going to work on that this evening and I'll post it. I actually have a day job, too, and had to go to a meeting today (bummer!!) so I didn't get around to it yet.

Adding all the countries besides USA, there are 66. I suspect the remainder of the 615 will be the number of USA quilters (549)

Years ago I worked in a fabric store & whenever the owner had a dilemma, she would gather us together & say, "talk this
thru with me" & we would listen to her & after some discussion a solution was found.
So, ladies, talk this thru with me:
I don't think you need to wait until you are innundated with all 5 hundred million thousand (as my 4 yr. old grandson might say) HST's.
It seems to me that you can start sorting after receiving baggies from 28 different participants (aka P). Mark each participant with a number. Lay out the HST's from each group, that is the HST's from P#1 thru P#28 for a total of 28 stacks of 28. Start compiling one from each stack for a collection of 28, put this in a baggy & mark with a post it note 1 - 28. When you receive baggies from P#29, she/he gets a bag of the 1 - 28 collection. When P#30 joins the party, they will get a collection. Until you run out of the first collection, which will be the one given to P#56. Then you can start another layout of HST's from the baggies of P#29 thru P#56. The collection from P#29 thru P#56 will go to each member of group P#1 thru P#28.
Will this work to just keep swapping from groups of 28, one to another?
Upon reading this it sounds ridiculously confusing.
Well, discussion?
Clara
That might be the easiest way to sort through 5 hundred million thousand HSTs, but there are quite a few of us who are planning to send at least 615 HSTs in hopes of getting back one from each contributor. Thinking about how to do all of that makes my head hurt! I think that Debbie and Clara and whoever they can talk into The Sorting Event deserve lots of chocolate, and an adult beverage with fruit and umbrellas!
But only AFTER the sorting is done!

Hi everyone. I can't wait to start my first international quilt. This is so much fun. I too am going to take pix of all the triangles and print them on fabric for my quilt back. I still haven't decided which quilt I'm going to make but I would love to post a picture of it after it's completed. Would love to be able to see others as well.
Again, thank you wonderful ladies for taking this on. Did any of you have any idea how big this would get? If I lived closer I would love to help with the sorting. And thank you too, Edyta, for this wonderful idea. Have a great cruise!

We now know how many quilters have signed up. Has anyone counted how many HSTs will be sent? Of course, some did not state how many they will be sending, but could we assume that they will send at least one sheet (28 HSTs). I could do this next week but if someone else want to do it before then.....go for it! :-)

ATTENTION!!! UK Sisters. If any of you feel like it, you can email me direct and when the time comes post your HSTs to me. I'll then send them as one parcel to the US. I can't really do any sewing till the half-term holiday, but intend to send my HSTs more or less straight after the holidays. So, if you want me to include yours, let me know direct (use the little envelope under my picture to contact me). From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood
