This thread is terrific! I like all the new additions. Rosemary's fencing and "Wool-verine" had me laughing uncontrollably!

Margo, I accept your quote from THE RULES, but how about this: If you post a picture here, showing you and your rotary cutter
Does your hands really show YOU? Maybe this is off topic

All entries are terrific. I bet Lorchen has a fun time with her thinking cap on.

Still stuck at 9 stone 10lbs(ish) last week I saw 9st 8 for a day, but I am waiting for the magic day I hit 9st 7 when I will be a full 2st off. (and if I didn't keep having hiccups of pudding at bbq's or DH's birthday or snacking on dark chocolate I might have got there by now - still at least I have got maintaining sorted out  )

Woolverine that is an awesome handful you've got there.

As for RDA of vit D I have heard that RDA really stands for 'Randomly Decided Amount' and that it is the bare minimum that people should be taking. Still it has been great this week we've had 4 days of bright sunshine - lots of natural vit D to soak up and don't forget to enjoy it with proper butter or cream ...

Michelle, do you own shares in a rotary cutter company?? Great picture!

                Rosemary, the maintaining is Key!
We 'assisted' in a blood pressure study a few years ago, when they wanted to prove the benefit of weight loss to blood pressure, and we were working with a professor from university hospital in Zurich. He spends half the year in various Famine affected countries trying to help and feed up the malnourished. The other half of the year he's at the university hospital in Zurich telling the obese how to loose weight (which pays for his 'freebee' excursions for doctors without borders)... He impressed on us how important it is to have an extended term of maintaining the weight once you have lost an initial amount, I.e. loose 5-10 kg, then maintain this weight for 3 to 6 months before tackling the next lot. Fat cells have a memory and they want to keep the same amount of 'reserves' as they remember. So as the fat cells die off and new ones grow (in simplified terms), the new ones only have the 'memory' of the 'now stage'... I.e. they don't want to go back to the old weightier status. He said that if one goes downhill too long in one go, it's just picking up speed to make it up the hill on the other side... (the yo-yo effect) and because one picked up so much speed, one goes higher... When go outside from an upper level we don't jump out the window, but walk sown the stairs one step at a time ( possibly skipping two once in a while) So: be happy you got the maintaining solved, give yourself time and tackle the next step...

You are so right, Lotti. I loose a few pounds and then nothing much happens for several weeks. It's like my body adjusts to the new weight, and then it has another go. I have plotted my 'road to a gorgeous, almost slimline Lorchen' on a graph, and the overall tendency is down, but ever so often there is a straight horizontal bit before it goes down again.

Rosemary, give yourself time, and enjoy life (and fencing).

And we need to give ourselves time to learn what our body needs, where we can enjoy something extra and how to enjoy our food too. We don't want to spend the rest of our lives on a permanent diet, but want to change to a healthier way of eating, so that this feels normal, habitual, fun and satisfying. Treats must be enjoyed, not agonized over!

I'm totally in awe of you, Lorchen! You're a true 'vorbild'!

Thanks for the added detail, Lois. Are you taking a break from Chinese Whispers?

Just coming up for air. Actually, I have other stuff to do as well. I have to check in here and I still have a life. The garden continues to grow. I have clients that need to be seen and I am the one who prepares meals around here. I like to cook. I just have to fit it in with the rest of the stuff.

Margo, dear, I believe Lorchen gave us an "example". That example showed us a person with a head. We want to see your head and smiling face
                        Rosemary--fantastic--you all are so creative.
Well done Michelle--hope you didn't drop any of those weapons.
Lois, your nails before your Vit. D sounds just like mine; plus, I have Margo's abysmal diet. No wonder my nails never last(although they are better than they were when I was a teenager). Now if I could quit loosing my hair--I'd be all set.

Ok, the other day I told you I was on my way to see 4H judging (yes, I know I am off topic). I don't think I told you that I help my youngest granddaughter do her first sewing project for 4H. They usually do skirts but while reading the rules I saw she could do a pillow sham. So, when I asked her what she wanted to do, her eyes lite up and she said she wanted to do a quilted pillow (she has no idea what a sham is). After many weeks, stressful for grandma, she got her project done. Here is the happy girl with her pillow that won a blue ribbon and I am happy to say I survived all the whining(apparently that works with her parents).

Thanks Margo! After all the yucky stuff grows out of my nails and new "clean" nails have grown I'll give it a try!

I also take extra vitamin D, up to 12000 UI per day, by Naturophatic doctor prescription and that should help too. I'll have to check about millet, I'm restricted on eating several/most grains. Thanks for all the tips. I just love going off topic. Fun to learn new things.

Ritzy, congratulations to you and DGD. Well deserved ribbon!

Love all the photos, you ladies are making it harder and harder to come up with a good pic. Have to put on my thinking cap to figure out a good photo shoot.

Brilliant picture of your granddaughter, Ritzy! And I looove that pillow. I bet the owner of the pillow is quite a little monkey at times.

Just two questions: What is '4H'? And what is a 'pillow sham'? I have heard of both before, but have no idea what they actually are. Please, educate me.

Congratulations to you and your DGD on the blue ribbon, Ritzy. I remember wanting to be in 4H, but only made it to one meeting because I lived on a farm and didn't have transportation. That's been a long time ago. Ritzy would be better at telling you more about it.

I'm seeing lots of variety in rotary cutters. My box cutter snuck in between mine. I'm spending more time with it lately so my rotary blades should stay sharp for a long time.

I'm supposed to be taking more vitamin D too. With all of the packing and lifting I'm doing lately my nails keep splitting down the middle so I'm keeping them short.
