    Ark Project on Hold!

After several weeks: No rain today and glorious sunshine. I better cancel the Ark-Building course and get back to playing with fabric.

Some expert on a news programme tonight tried to explain that the weather situation is due to the gulf stream misbehaving. It is around all the time, but should be further North right now. It's too far South. To be honest, I don't care. I don't like hot weather, but I have been singing "I'm singing in the rain" and "Raindrops keep falling on my head" for long enough.

Aww. I was hoping you were going to get one of those new Janome treadle machines for the ark and report back to us about how it works.    There's something fascinating about that. Here's the link in case you decide to stock it in any way--I was wrong, though, it only has 10 utility stitches and a buttonhole stitch:

But I'm happy the sun came out.

Betty Jo, however interesting that Janome is, I am the proud owner of 'Jessica', an antique hand-crank singer. She is in full working order, so I can quilt anywhere (well, except under water, I guess).

You better quilt a dove so you can find land again. (Just to restock on fabric etc.,)

Sunny here in Kent this morning, Lorchen (warm enough in fact for a quick splash at the beach!) but rain is tipping down again this evening....we may soon have enough water on land for me to visit by kayak!
I have a treadle Singer, which was my great great aunt's, and now have a hand cranked Jones to add to my collection after a trip to a boot fair in Cornwall last week. So I'm well-equiped to sew if we have to evacuate upstairs.....

Lorchen, Jessica is beautiful! Perhaps you should use her to make your dove quilt. You could put a rainbow in the background.

Beautiful machine Lorchen. I have my grandmother's treadle foot which I will pop into my Mary Poppins bag on the way out the door. BJ I love the look of that Janome treadle machine. I wonder how much it costs. What a clever idea - it means that you can sew in the Ark or tent or boat, camper van.... sew many places!

I was at the CQC show this morning and asked the Janome rep about their tredle machine. I didn't check the
price, but the price is only for the machine. You still have to get a cabinet and the tredle mechanism. :?
