Did you try restarting the computer? I too use a memory card in a slot on the computer instead of a USB cord. Hugs going your way.

Thanks for the hug, Annis! Yes, I've done a "warm boot" and "cold boot". I've done each several times, in fact! Next time it may be a REAL boot!!

I think I've ruled out the easy stuff, and think it's the camera.

When you unplug the camera from the computer, do you click the Icon to safely remove hardware?
Sometimes, you need a need a new driver for the equipment.
Hey, I no expert. I just stumble through a lot of stuff.
Sometimes, my USBs don't recognize the GPS. I have to disconnect and reconnect several times.
As far as the camera, I'm like Ritzy I always use the card.

Hope you get it working properly. When the computer works, it's wonderful and when it does not, it's horrid.

Pam, I always wait for the camera to state "sync complete" before I unplug it.
Yep...I'm thinking that I'll be using the card now.

Thanks Barbara! That has made a difference! I un-installed what was there and re-installed the disk. Parts of it still don't work, so there still seems to be something going on with the camera, but the reinstall helped!!

Thank you all for holding my hand through this frustration!

              Hugs....

I had an issue trying to register my new GPS as the computer would not recognize it. It turns out that one of the recent updates from Microsoft updated Internet Explorer to version 9 and it has compatibility issues sometimes. If yours has been updated to IE9 open your browser, click on Tools, and then on Compatibility View. If you don't get 'Compatibility View in the list under Tools, press the ALT button on your keyboard and that will expose a tool bar at the top of your screen with Tools. Click on THAT Tools and it should show Compatibity View. Now, when I did that and went back to try to download an update, I had to open Tools again, right from where I was, and click Compatibility again. Don't ask me why, all I know is after a day and a half I finally got it to work. I hope this works for you!

Thanks Cindy, but I'm using Google Chrome so I don't think an Internet Explorer update would have anything to do with my issue. Apparently reinstalling the software has justified most of it, but I still think there is something else going on with the camera. I was able to take some pictures last night and transfer them with the USP cord, so I'll just work around the other stuff.

Thanks again everyone for the sympathy!

                      IT'S A NEW DAY!!

I googled easy share troubleshooting and ignored specific models on the site. Could one of these help?

                            Hi Margo,

I have a different camera and software, but frequently have the same problem that you are having. For some reason, when I "Safely remove my hardware (USB) or media device ( my XD removable disk)", my PC disables that USB or media port until I reboot. If you normally use the USB port, have you tried taking your media card out of your camera and inserting it in the appropriate port. Like me, you might also have a media port and/or a USB port on your printer that you can use, if the ones on your PC are not activated when you connect to them.

One more thing, make certain that you have the appropriate software program set as the default program for when you connect your camera or photo media card to your PC.

                            Good luck!

Thanks for the info Nancy. It seems that re-installing the software has got me going again.

Love it when everything works the way I expect it to!
