How to change pictures so they upload easier?

Somewhere on this site I think I saw a demonstration on how to change a digital picture (to use less pixels?? - I'm not too techy) so that it will upload easier and still retain everything you want to be seen. Can anyone direct me to it (or...do you dare... explain it to me)??
    Thanks.

    Hi LovinQuiltin,

It would help if we knew what software you were using to alter your photos with so we can give you a step by step process.

If you don't have any software other than MS Paint that comes with Windows, then open your picture in Paint, go to Image (across the top, File, Edit, View, Image....) Select Stretch/Skew, and change the percent you want to reduce your image. Don't forget to save it. I would use Save As, that way, you will keep your original photo in case you need to go back to it again for something.

I do remember it,but of course can't tell you exactly where it was.It was on one of the earlier shows(series 1 or 2)?And Photo Man explained the whole process. There is probably a way to search for it,but I'm not "techie" either. This is probably no help whatsoever!! Sorry,Julie

Ah, I knew I saw it somewhere here, Julie! (a booklover like me?)

Thanks, Diane, for the idea. I have Photoshop 4 and will play around blindly until stumbling upon it. (BTW, I love your town! Used to visit often when my dd was in the Academy.)

Yes, I got a new camera and much higher resolution and takes forever to upload.

I'm using iPhoto on my iMac.

          Help!
