    Anybody have an AccuCut system?

    Hi

Our quilt guild is considering purchasing the AccuCut
die cutting fabric system for the membership to use.

I was wondering if anybody here has the system and
what do you think about it.

It's not inexpensive but if it will help us make charity quilts faster
and the membership can use it successfully for their
personal use it could be a good investment.

    thanks

I don't have the accucut system but after seeing it on the road trip 1 I sure wish our quilt group in TX could afford to have one. The die cut system is fantastic for paper crafts so can only imagine what it could do for quilters. It seems to me that the system for a group is a good investement but how to decide which die cuts to purchase might be a problem. My initial thought would be that the group would buy the system and a few basic die cuts and then if anyone wanted a specialty one they could buy it and either just use it on the system or donate it to the guild. Just my thoughts

My LQS has an Accu Cut. They use it all of the time to make jelly rolls and strips for quilts. They have purchased many die cuts and it is actually very easy to use and FAST. I think you all would be very happy with it. I have used it myself for a class that I took and it sure saved a lot of time using the machine instead of rotary cutting hundreds of strips. Judy in AZ

YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS!!! I just got off the phone with Accucut. I entered my name at the quilt show in Columbus Oh a couple weeks ago and I WON THE ACCUCUT MACHINE! I am so excited. This isn't something that ever happens to me. Only in my imagination do I ever win big prizes. Yes Yes Yes!!! I will now become the most popular girl in my quilt group. Ha Ha.

Congratulations You will love it. The only drawback is that you will have to keep buying all of the die cuts that are available. Maybe your guild will pitch in and help you buy the patterns. Happy cranking. Don't let your arm get too tired. Judy in AZ

Karen, you really ought to see if your guild will pitch in and help you buy the cutting patterns.

I get to use the AccuCut on Friday when I go to my Batik Club. We are going to cut triangles for our next project. Judy in AZ

Judy that was my plan too. If we can decide on some dies that several of us want it will be nice to go together on them. I sent out an email right away to say we need to call an emergency meeting because we don't meet in the summer but haven't heard back yet much to my surprise. Karen

I'm so excited for you, Karen. Just one thing I want to mention, be sure to use the Accucut Machine on the proper height table. I developed tennis elbow from using the die cuts at school. Too many hours using it and it was on a counter too high for me to use comfortably. 15 years later, I still have a sore elbow. What did I know, it was my first time using it and it was part of my job.

Have fun knowing that we are jealous! Congratulations! It is so nice to know that someone actually wins those drawings!

Thanks for the tip JoAnne. I never would have considered the table height if you hadn't mentioned it. Now I will protect my elbows.
