Scissors and arthritis
Just a tip for anyone with problems with their hand joints. Rather than using traditional scissors try shear scissors (Fiskars make some - there may be other brands). They have a spring mechanism that put smuch less pressure on yout thumb joints. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

Florence, your post reminded me of the My-T-Fine Cordless Electronic Cutter that Santa left under the tree for me. I absolutely love it, but you have to be very careful you don't hurt yourself! From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

Helen, I know you're not in the states, but for anyone who has access to a Hancock's there's a pair of rechargeable electric scissors on sale in their current flyer, I think the prices start on the 20th (for President's day) I have no knowledge whether these are any good, but I thought I'd point it out... oh I just didn't scroll down far enough! I didn't see this earlier! Fiskars scissors with spring action for arthritis? Mom is 84 and has dementia, but still is able to follow directions and do things, and I think helping to cut out applique peices (not small intricate ones, just some easy pieces) will help her motor skills and brain function. I hate seeing her watch tv all day, and she doesn't like it either! so we can make a quilt together!

I started quilting in 04 due to "Arthit Itis" who put the cabbash on crocheting. I purchased the fiskers and have them in every size and luv them because they are so friendly to the joints. I am especially liking the small ones for cutting the applique pieces for the BOM. I highly recommend them for anyone with joint and motor skills limitations.
