Quickie Reminder to everyone. Show off your quilts to thequiltshow.com by also posting them on the show and tell section. Scroll down and look for the quilt with the bikini on it and the section called "Priority Quilts". After you post your quilt, share your story there too.

      Here's a link.

Reminder. On the 3rd post of this thread, there are links that might be helpful (like the one above and many others). I will update that as we go through the year. The 2nd post will have updated numbers. I'm about to post some more later today.

The sheer fabric behind the daisy is linen gauze. On a similar piece I tried poly organza ('cause the good fabric store wasn't open and I was in a hurry) and I melted it when I gave the piece its final steam. At the good fabric store I found silk organza and this fabulous linen gauze ... love it ... and it doesn't melt. (You'd think I would know better. ... so embarassing!)

Susan, your quilt is really lovely. It is comforting to know that somebody as gifted and experienced as yourself can mess up too. It gives me hope. Rita.

...oh, if you only knew! I just don't show off my "oopsies". ...except for the one with the melted poly organza. It's one of my favorite pieces and is pictured in my new book. I only melted a little bit and it's along the edge and the quilt is still really cute. Why do we point out our fumbles whenever anyone admires our work? It's funny, huh?

We are all human. Sometimes oopsies work in our favor. Discover something new. Who knows, maybe one time that melted bit could be intentional texture to someone else. I've got a seriously warped quilt that is my first hawaiian. I love the design and won't get rid of it. It was my 3rd quilt and I learned a ton.

Put in about 7 more hours this weekend on the second batch. I need to work on finishing the quilting on the first, but my boy Mikey was sick with pneumonia and I needed an easy stop and start project to help me stay relaxed. He is doing much better and hopefully will be returning to school tomorrow. Will post pictures tomorrow of progress. I'm working on a bunch of flowers. Outside my comfort zone, but always wanted to try.

What are you guys working on? Share, even if it isn't Alzheimer's: Priority Quilts. We all (most of us) have several projects going at the same time. Wish I had more discipline, but oh well. Please share. Any new techniques?

Clara, sorry to hear your son has pneumonia and I hope he is better soon. My daughter had it when she was 11 and it took two courses of anti-biotics to clear (primarily because the doctor gave her a paediatric dose the first time0. She is now 17 but we always worry when she gets a bad cold or cough in case it is returning - probably unnecessarily.

As for quilting, I just finished the binding on a pineapple quilt - from Gyleen Fitzgerald's Trash to Treasure - and I hope to post a photo later today - I need to get some good light to take the shot and it is raining and very dark here again today. I made the quilt for my daughter's friend who is in hospital recovering, with many setbacks, from having much of her bowel removed. She had been suffering with colitis for the past few months and was taken in for emergency surgery. Poor thing, she is only 35 years old. She just began a degree in midwifery last september and has had to postpone it for a year. I decided to make this quilt for when she came out of hospital. It's a lap quilt size so perfect for recovery on the sofa while watching TV.
