I will let you know when I have them done. I have to just finish a quilt for my daughter's friend who has just had surgery which may have saved her life but has left her with lifelong problems. It's a great idea Clara and thanks for the reminder. Rita.
Rita, there hasn't been one quilt donated to the AAQI that we haven't found a buyer for, so do not worry about it! I can't wait to see your donations!

What is your most popular quilt that is bought or requested? Just curious.

Diane, thank you for that - I will be more than happy to donate quilts for such a very worthy cause. Rita.

Clara count me in! I have wanted to do this for a year now and you have been the kick in my butt to make me do it!!
I'll share what I am doing as I get started on it in the next few weeks. I think all the SOTT"s should support this idea as a thank you to all that you did for our HST exchange!

This is a tough question, since I've seen over 9,000 quilts go through our system. NINE THOUSAND quilts - think about that number for a minute. It's downright amazingly wonderful! And we've raised almost $700,000 - which is also wonderfully amazing!

Flowers are popular - both to make and to buy. Animals and pets are also very popular. One of the easiest quilts to make is to take an unused quilt block (or make one from scraps) and add an applique or something to give it a focal point. A silhouette of a dog or a cat - an embroidered daisy, some bead work. All good ideas. Quilts that are embellished sell for more than a plain pieced quilt. If you can add a border or piping and stay within the 9x12 quilt size limit, that's a plus. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using a pattern or getting an idea from a magazine, you just have to get written permission from the pattern designer. Dover has a huge selection of ideas to work from and most of their things are royalty free.

Make it fun or different and interesting and you'll find yourself hooked on the 9x12 or smaller size quilts.

9,000 quilts have passed through your hands. Lucky.

This would be a perfect time to use up extra half-square triangles and strips from the exchanges we just did.

                Thanks,
                Clara

Clara - what a wonderful project! I (like many others) have been meaning to try and make a few but just haven't done it. This is the push I needed, so count me in!

Hi Clara. Love your little quilts you are working on. I have been making quilts for AAQI for about 11 months. I never thought of doing them in batches. Will have to try this. I have been trying to use these little quilts to let me express myself. No pattern, just me and the fabric. Will let you know when I send in the next one!

These small format quilts are perfect for expressing from the heart. Especially if you have your own personal journey with Alzheimer's. If your heart is through a theme (example: you have a passion for flowers), then follow that theme. Have fun and pour your love in. It will come out. Just like they say in cooking. Cook with your heart and it will come through.

Right now, we are off to a great start for the first day. 9 quilters have said they are in. As things progress, I will keep you updated on numbers. Quilters like hearing the numbers it seems.

Aileen, you asked when to send the next one in. Anytime. You have a year. Do it right away or wait until later or do one a month or make one this month and buy one next month. I could go on and on, but I will spare you. Refer back to the first page of the forum when you are ready. There are two options for submitting a quilt. You chose what works better for you.

Clara, my Daughter, says that I WILL BE DOING A QUILT FOR THIS PROJECT. Please have a big jar of patience for me with this project. I do not even have a sewing machine yet. Clara is going to help me with that too.
