    Thread comparison charts

I found some machine embroideries that I want to do and the colours are listed for Madeira threads and I want to use Superior. Does anyone know of a chart that compares the colour equivalences of these brands.

    thanks in advance

Sorry -- I don't know of a comparison chart that specifically matches Madeira and Superior. Personally, if you already own Superior threads, then I would just choose the thread colors that you love and ignore the chart altogether. I urge my students to allow themselves to play and break free of charted colors unless they really do wish to match the designer's colors exactly.

The other option is to order the thread charts for each company (usually they are pretty reasonable) and visually compare the colors yourself. I have to do this occasionally when I have to match a company's PMS colors for their logo.

Have fun and enjoy the process!

Thanks for the quick replies! I don't usually follow colour guides, but being quite new to embroidery, I was hoping for a cheat sheet.

I e-mailed Bob at Superior, maybe he knows...

          Hi
If you have embroidery software like Bernina or Explorations, when you put the design in, you can choose other brands of thread and swap. BUT, sometimes the colours aren't quite the same. JoJo's idea is good, much better to see colour in the flesh so to speak!!!
